Bio
2Brown Sisters carrying on the legacy. “Merging contemporary styles with our father’s material.” This session touches on OBJ classics to bring it full circle blending the new with some of the old. Carrying on the legacy means marrying their jazz foundation, with the beat of hip-hop, reggae, contemporary gospel and more.Their duo will perform some of the popular jazz standards on which Mr. Brown has collaborated with jazz greats Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, Thelonius Monk and numerous others.
The venerable Mr. Brown’s outstanding lyrics to compositions like Nat Adderly’s, “Work Song”, Bobby Timmons’ “Dat Dere” and Mongo Santamaria’s “Afro Blue” established him with jazz fans everywhere when he debuted over four decades ago. The recording of his compositions by stars such as Barbra Striesand, Diana Ross, Billy Eckstien, Diane Reeves and Kevin Mahogany has highlighted Browns esteemed career as a writer.
However, Brown’s greatest vocal support has arguably come from his daughters Maggie and Africa.Band Members
