"Local band getting a big break"

The pay isn't too good. In fact, 2211 isn't getting paid at all.

But the exposure is priceless in their eyes.

MTV has chosen a song by 2211, a Janesville-Milton band, to feature on its upcoming Tom Green home video release.

Derek Schyvinck, 2211's bassist and lead vocalist, says MTV learned about the group through the Madison-based Hardknocks record label.

Hardknocks sent MTV dozens of CDs from local bands. From that collection, MTV picked 2211's ``Mr. McManaway'' (off the ``Fives'' CD) to include on Green's video, which will be released nationwide Aug. 8. - Wisconsin State Journal

Bio

2211 combines the "party band" spirit of the rock and metal bands of the 60's, 70's and 80's with the angst and edge of the heavy metal music of the 90's and 2000. Proudly looking to The Beatles, Pantera, KISS, The Doors, Metallica, Tool and Motley Crue as inspirations, the band has forged a following by performing, recording and promoting relentlessly, and delivers an unforgettable show every time the band takes the stage. In doing so, 2211 has found themselves on the bill as an opening act for Korn, Taproot, Saliva, Drowning Pool, Ace Frehley, Bobaflex, The Deaf Pedestrians, Zakk Wylde's Black Label Society, Soil, Jackyl, Quiet Riot and others at various venues throughout Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois and Michigan. 2211 was heralded by Maximum Ink music magazine as "a musical molotov cocktail...with a triple guitar attack that roars and soars", and by the Dubuque Telegraph Herald as a band that "oozes charisma". The band gives its absolute all into delivering an unforgettable show that meets and exceeds audience expectations every night. Look for the band's Android App, which is available as a free download in the Android market, which contains photos, audio and video of the band as well as blogs, upcoming show schedules complete with maps and directions and links to 2211's Facebook, Twitter and myspace pages.
