Bio

The band 24*13 has been together going on three years. Before forming as a group all members of the band had formal music training. Over this time the band has recorded two c.d’s. The first is titled The Way which consists of seven original songs and three covers. The second CD recorded this past summer is titled Tempted Fate and is comprised of eight original songs. 24*13’s music is rooted in rock & roll and rhythm & blues, and they have an understanding and appreciation for all the good music that has come before them. 24*13 has an extensive catalogue of original material, in which their music & lyrics are relevant and inspirational. They also do great covers of songs ranging from Artists such as Buffalo Springfield ,Jimi Hendrix, and U2, to Buddy Guy, John Mayer, and Oasis. All members of the band are fans of the Pretenders. The band consists of the following members.Josh McGowan – Lead guitar and vocals. Josh is a very talented musician who writes the majority of the Bands material. He is very good at telling a story through his music while making it sound good at the same time. His guitar work is unique and powerful and his singing draws you in. Josh resides in Skokie, Ill and is a sophomore at Washington University, in St Louis, Mo. Josh hosts his own radio show during the school year at KWUR, which is the Washington University radio station. The show is called “Down at the Crossroads”, and it is nothing but The Blues. The show airs every Friday afternoon from 3:00 to 4:00 pm and can be accessed at www.KWUR.com. Josh will be a junior in the fall of 2009.
Kevin Kirland – Bass Guitar. Kevin is an excellent bass player who holds down a solid beat, and whose signature bass lines you will recognize on many of the band’s songs. Kevin also provides backing vocals. Kevin is the “quiet one” but you would never know that by the way he plays his bass guitar. He is also the technical help person who can usually fix anything if it breaks. Kevin will be a senior at Loyola Academy in the fall of 2009 and is a member of Loyola’s varsity football team. Kevin resides in Skokie, Ill.

Jack McKee – Drums. Jack McKee is an exceptional drummer. Jack’s style is more a technical style, but he is able to, and does, cut loose at any moment. Jack plays with passion and heart and is the backbone of the band, holding everything together. Jack is a fan of all types of music. Especially the great rock & roll music of the 60’s and 70’s and has been inspired by such drummers as Keith Moon of The Who, and John Bonham of Led Zepplin. Jack will graduate from Loyola Academy in spring of 2009 and attend Columbia College in Chicago in the fall of 2009. Jack resides in Chicago, Ill.The band has played numerous live shows over the past three years . Some of their recent shows from this past summer include Edgebrook Fest and The Ravenswood Manor Summer Concert Series,. They were also voted “Fans Favorite Choice”, in a battle of the bands for the village of Skokie in the summer of 2008. Just recently (06 FEB 2009) they were voted best band in a battle of the bands competition, at Loyola Academy High School in Willmette, ILL. Over the past two Christmas holidays the band has played two benefit concerts. These shows have helped to raise money for members of the Chicago Police Department, who have been fighting for our country in Iraq, and Afghanistan. These two shows raised over $3,500.00 , drew large crowds and the band was at their best.

The bands live shows have improved dramatically since their initial performances. They continue to incorporate new idea’s on stage while at the same time always providing an energetic and enthusiastic show for their fans. The band has developed a loyal following of fans ranging in all ages from baby boomers to high school and college students. The band is looking to get it’s music out to a broader audience and to perform in front of bigger crowds.
