25th Parallel

We are 25th Parallel, a young band of four cousins from Auckland. We've been a band for about two and a half years now and have loved every minute of it. We played at the Little Day In and had an awesome time performing. Mostly we play our own music, but we also like to learn covers from artists we admire. We would class our music as rock, but it does have a slight pop sound to it at times. We first decided to become a band in early 2009 and have been busy practising and writing songs ever since. We are influenced by all styles of music, and are very open minded when it comes to music, as long as it has meaningful lyrics and good music, we will listen to it. Our guitarist Eric {17}, has been playing since he was young, and loves it. Emma {16}, our basist has been playing bass since last year, but before then was the bands pianist, she also is the backup vocalist. Vocalist Kate {15} Has been singing and writing music since she was a little girl and still loves it. The youngest member of our band is Sam, at 14 he is a great drummer, and has been playing since very young. Our parents are musicians, so we have grown up with family playing music around us. Both our fathers were in a band together, so it was only natural that we would continue the tradition and become a band ourselves. We really love to play and write music, its our passion. We wrote our first song together just after we became a band. This song was called The Origin and we were inspired to write this song after we walked all day telling stories and singing with eachother.
