"WOW Review"

I hope that 2econds don’t read this gig review because I have nothing good to say about them, and have absolutely no idea how they got to play at WOW. It was as if the sound guy’s younger brother’s band wanted to play, and the venue figured that since no one rocks up at 9pm, no one would notice. Quite possibly true, since they only opened doors about two minutes after their set had actually started. They were clearly not serious musicians, with both guitarist and bassist playing through measly 10 watt practice amps and the drummer’s ride cymbal was so mangled that it looked like a pancake on a toothpick.
Try to imagine listening to a Sum 41 cassette on a dodgy stereo with broken speakers. Their cover of Blink 182’s Anthem Part 2 was so godawful that one of the few punters snidely remarked, ‘And I thought Blink 182 were out of tune…’ It seemed like the band themselves realised how bad they sounded, with their guitarist repeatedly apologising for their presence. Halfway through their set he said, ‘So we’ve only got ten more minutes of our set, which means that we will only be disturbing your night for another ten minutes.’

"Press Release"

"In anticipation of their debut EP launch on October 1, 2econds are taking extra preventative measures to protect their health: Jerome will not kiss his wife, Josh is applying antiseptic cream to his eye, and Rian is in a deep, deep sleep. Despite this, Melbourne based 2econds are rearing to go; “I feel like I’ve had a shot of adrenaline put right in my dick” the ever nondescript Jerome admits. The effervescent lads also apply this concept to their music:
Described ubiquitously as ‘Alkaline Trio meets Fall Out Boy, has sex with Sugar Ray’, 2econds absolutely deliver a fantastic experience every time, and this will be no exception! In support of the occasion 3 inimitable bands from the 'burbs of Melbourne have been recruited as supports: CELADORE, GET FIGHTED! and OH PACIFIC.
So if you’re done with your fish burgers come down to the Arthouse on Friday October 1 from 8PM onwards for a night of amiable, amorous and androgynous punk rock. Tix are $10 on the door, $8 presale." - The Arthouse

"The Worker's Club Press"

"Melbourne's very own 2econds are bringing their crisp, new smelling single to life as they launch off this June at The Workers Club in Fitzroy. Amazingly, between online poker tournaments and touring schedules the 'much less sullen than you give them credit for' trio admit they put aside as much as 6 hours in the studio to come up with their booming debut effort; which has been described as Fall Out Boy meets Alkaline trio has sex with Sugar Ray. But really is, very good. Support on the night comes from local heroes MEET ME AT MONTAUK and contemporaries OPTION as well as left fielders KILLS COLLAPSE. So if you don't have any appointments (or you're just plain sick of studying the Kabbalah) come down and catch the guys at The Workers Club, June 19. Doors are at 8pm, tix $8 presale $10 on the door." - The Workers Club

Bio

2econds (pronounced 'Seconds') is an alternative punk band from the North, East and South of Melbourne.
Forming in 2009 the band, consisting of Joshua Snow (Drums), Rian Kelly-Flanders (Guitar/Vocals), Jerome Doan (Guitar) and Chris Butler (Bass) is a self described "...mix of everything from Donny Hathaway to American Football, to Fall Out Boy."
Though "[They] don’t really discriminate or buy into any particular image,” as cockney accented guitarist Doan puts it.
The group's debut single launched in July of 2010 to a packed crowd at The Workers Club in Fitzroy, while their EP launched to a similarly large crowd at the Arthouse in September.

While currently on break for the recording of their debut album, the band is gearing up for a monumental 2011, which will begin with their set at the upcoming Pushover festival in March and complete with a National tour of Australia in December.
As a live band 2econds are known for their somewhat eccentric stage antics, with co-ordinated dance routines being a staple of their early shows. Though the band admit that they now have grown out of those eccentricities, they instead substitute them for an electric and energized stage production.
