Bio
When songwriter Clay Vernon returned to Kansas after receiving his composition degree out of state, he was ready to make music with some old friends. One such friend, drummer Gabe Hedstrom, was equally eager. Hedstrom’s rockabilly band King King had been gigging in the Kansas City area for years, but his new interest was something more modern: funk. Vernon immediately knew who to call, bass player Zach Dinges. The three formed 2 Lb Bear in late 2005 to begin exploring funk in the post-cold war era.
