2ToneDisco

After much anticipation for last Friday’s CONTROL, we got to experience the night in full force and HERE’S WHAT HAPPENED.

There was a young 20 year old dude that we never heard sitting by himself in the corner. We didn’t know at the time but he was 2ToneDisco. He went on right after Cut Copy with a BAM in your face sound, was jumping around and shouting out on the mic. He played everything from MGMT to Felguk, feel good music from start to finish.
2ToneDisco was definitely the highlight of the night. He kept the crowd going because his performance was so energetic. We were left literally with the only thought of “Wow” circling our heads. Isn’t that what disco should be about?
When he finished playing we spoke with him for a bit, told him we loved the performance. 2ToneDisco and his team were unbelievably modest and nice, which is something quite rare in this business. It’s always so amazing to see new talent playing Avalon and surprising everyone with such great vibes! That’s exactly the type of thing that makes working with music so gratifying! 2ToneDisco definitely made a lasting impression on us so be sure to check this guy out…

Remember that old chestnut from your Psych 101 days about how the whole being greater than the sum of its parts? Well, it happens to be totally true, and not when it comes to gestalt psychology. Its also can be easily applied to the music world, whether we're talking about supergroups, package concert tours, or the mash-up work of such greats as Z-Trip or Girl Talk.
On the local level, the axiom also is applicable to the geektacular Phoenix-based DJ/producer duo known as 2ToneDisco. Comprised of chiptune fiend Omni Rutledge and British-born indie disco wizard James Campbell, the two blend their respective sonic specialties into quirky and chirpy tracks that are of an electro/nu-disco nature and evoke both an 8-bit aesthetic and a four-on-the-floor energy. - Phoenix New Times

We first discovered 2tone Disco when they opened for Laidback Luke last year in Scottsdale, Arizona. We had never heard of them before but after hearing their set we knew very soon they would be making headlines on multiple EDM blogs. Soon enough we saw them featured on blogs such as EDM.com, FistInTheAir.com, and FreshNewTracks.com. This year they have released multiple original tracks and they keep true to the 2tone Disco sound which includes Electro, Nu Disco, and of course Omni's signature Chiptunes. - Electric Family

Self-described nerds and “two chill dudes,” James Campbell and Omni Rutledge of 2TONEDISCO exude infectious enthusiasm that translates into their music. “We really care about making sure that people have a good time,” Campbell said.

Vibrant beats and keyboard overlay make it hard not to dance. Their distinct sound has allowed the nu-disco group to rise within their scene. In homage to their favorite past time, they incorporate sounds from classic video games, sewing nostalgia into every song. Rutledge explains that video games are what got him into music.
