Singing and songwriting duo 2 Treys rock to an American Southeast fusion of country, pop, and self-branded Wuss Rock with a heart full of sincerity and a wink to the crowd of humor. These boys continue to build their fan base in Atlanta GA have the hooks in their pocket…and they're happy to see you

Biography

The two Treys are the remaining active members of shadowood. They are an Atlanta based songwriting duo that have been writing and playing music together for over 15 years. They met when they were 3 years old in L.A. (lower Alabama) where they quickly became best friends through common interests and the fact that they have the same name (it doesn’t take much when you’re 3). At the age of 10 TreyT moved to Pensacola, Florida and TreyE moved to Alex City, Alabama. Little did they know that more than 20 years after moving apart they would still be writing music together.

You can hear the influence of musicians such as Jackopierce, James Taylor , Run DMC, Hank Williams, Charlie Robison, The Bare Naked Ladies and a hundred others mixed and mingled throughout their music.

Their style of self proclaimed “wuss rock” blends folk, country and rock to form an avenue of music that translates and transform into many genres. They are currently working on their third studio album with their band shadowood and long time producer Don McKinzie of McMix Production Services. The yet to be named album features the songs “Letters Home” which tells the story of soldier at war and his communication with his newborn and “Flip Flop Tan” that explores the compelling human urge to be someplace warm and sandy.

Their first two albums entitled “Too late to turn back now” and “The Treehouse incident” contain all original songs that show their range and passion for all types of music.

Lyrics

Flip Flop Tan

Written By: 2Treys

Chorus I:
I’m thinking about flip flops… And spiced rum
Tiki bars and steal drums.
Drinking cold beer in the hot white sand.
Working on my flip flop tan.
Someplace warm.

Verse I:
Alarm woke me up and I’m outta bed.
Log on to check out what weather man said.
He singing me the same old song
It’s cold and it’s rainy and the wind is strong.

Why do I live like this everyday (sing this higher)
When I know my heart is in a warmer place.
Still I… drive into work and when I get in my cube
I have to stand up in my chair just to get a good view… of the outside.

What kind of life is that… On the outside, my mind starts to wander and I start singing about

Chorus II:
flip flops… And spiced rum
Tiki bars and steal drums.
Drinking cold beer in the hot white sand.
Working on my flip flop tan.

Put me in a hammock and we’ll call it done.
Lay me out in the mid day sun.
Don’t bother me boy, cause I’m just finin,
It’s early and I’m buzzin and the sun is shining someplace warm.

Bridge:
One day at a time - or so they say
But one day turns into the next before you know
your whole life is gone away.
It’s time for me to take my life and make it what I want it
Gonna drive down south cross the border and find me some

Chorus III:
flip flops… And spiced rum
Tiki bars and steal drums.
Drinking cold beer in the hot white sand.
Working on my flip flop tan.

Put me in a hammock and we’ll call it done.
Lay me out in the mid day sun.
Don’t bother me boy, cause I’m just finin,
It’s early and I’m buzzin and the sun is shining someplace warm.

Verse II:
Well I'm finally here well it's about time
I've been layin' in the sun and getting so so fine (so I can get fine)
No more dreamin' it's reality
Excuse for a minute while I put on theeeeeeeese... (build into a stop for acapela chorus)

Chorus IV:
flip flops… And spiced rum (acapella)
Tiki bars and steal drums. (acapella)

MeOMyOh

Written By: 2Treys

Verse I:
Let me spin a little yarn about a boy named Jon
Down from the bayou.
Stop me if you heard it.

He had a little Cajun girl
Made you wanna scream out Me o My O
And you could see how much she loved him.

But he was misguided, misdirected Not what she’d expected
From a strong southern man
Seeing to her needs

So she decided just to leave him
With all his dreams and freedom
To find out where his path would finally lead

Chorus I:
Now he see’s
There’s nothing worse in life than givin’ in.
You gotta hold on to your dreams
And it feels like someone else’s life he’s livin’ in.
It’s time to take life for a ride
And if throws you off you better get up
And keep runnin’ - Yeah

Verse II:
Johnny had himself a band
And they were pretty damn good I would say so.
They put out a record or two.

Every time they played their songs
the town would come to their show…
The big time’s a coming soon.

And then one day at this one bar
A man said you could all be stars.
Come with me and here what I have to say.

So they followed the man outside.
Got into his big pimp ride,
drove down the road and signed their life away.

Chorus II:

Bridge:
Careful what you wish for in this life
Sometimes you just might get it.
That’s when Johnny realized
Just what he’d been missing – yeah

Verse III:
Fast forward through life and love its six months later
Johnny’s back at home
And the love for his Cajun girl could not be greater
Cause she’d given him room to roam.

Chorus III:
Now he see’s Sometimes it’s best in life to settle in.
You gotta recognize your dreams
And it feels like this life is just perfect for him.
Well he took life for a ride And all that time that he was running
It was to her. His Cajun girl.
Oh me o my oh Down by the bayou.

Letters Home

Written By: 2Treys

Verse I:
My darling, it’s your daddy writing
From so far it’s hard to explain.
I’ve been away working night and day
But the thought of you numbs the pain

Mommy sent me a picture of you
And I’ve heard you cry on the phone.
Little darling don’t you worry
I’ll be home before you know.

Chorus I:
And at night I’m dreaming
Of all the time we’ll spend.
Birthdays and sun rays
But for now I’m sending my love in
These letters home.

Verse II:
Little darling I’ve heard you’re crawling
And you still can’t sleep at night
I wish I was there, not over here
So I could tuck you in real tight.

They’re telling me that I get to leave
In about a month or two.
It’s a gift sent straight from heaven
But His greatest gift was you.

Chorus II:
And at night I’m dreaming
Of all the time we’ll spend.
Games we'll play and your wedding day
The memories will soon begin
Cause I’m coming home

Bridge:
We're gonna go outside and finally play in the yard
And for the very first time... I'll hold you in my arms

Verse III:
Hey, little darlin', my name’s Private Morgan
Over here I was your dad’s best friend.
He constantly prayed and was countin' the days
till he could come back home again.

Every word that came from his mouth
was about you, I thought you should know… But…
Last night your daddy lost the fight
(Hold the C and go acapella)
And now he’s coming home.

Chorus III:
And now he’s with you
He’s the warmth that you feel on your skin
Be proud, your daddy kept his vows
To stand until the very end
And now he’s home.

Just to Fly

Written By: 2Treys

Verse I:
Last time I saw you, you were running away.
Left me standing all alone
So I fought and I cussed and screamed and was beggin you to stay
Now I know that I was wrong

And I’m walking down a worn out path
And I’m trying so hard to find my way back.
Just to find that I got no clue at all.
I find it hard to look for you when I see you in everything I do
So afraid that I am going to fall.

Pre-chorus 1:
So I walk and I run and get turned all around
And I hope and I pray and I beg for you. What I wouldn’t do

Chorus I:
Just to fly (fly through your head all day and night)
Just to fly (Cause I know that everything’s going to be all right if I)

Fly. Hours turn into days – Just to fly
You know that I’m thinking of you, you’re thinking of me always

Verse II:
50 miles on these worn out shoes and 250 more to go
And an extra one for you
I wish I could find you now cause these feeling I would show
All I can be is true

Still I keep on walking down a worn out path
And I’m trying so hard to find my way back.
Just to find that I got no clue at all.
I find it hard to look for you when I see you in everything I do
So afraid that I am going to fall.

Pre-chorus II1:
So I walk and I run and get turned all around
And I hope and I pray and I beg for you. What I wouldn’t do

Chorus II:
Just to fly (fly through your head all day and night)
Just to fly (Cause I know that everything’s going to be all right if I)
Hours turn into days – Just to fly
You know that I’m thinking of you, you’re thinking of me always
