BandAlternativeRock

39 Reasons’ sound draws comparisons to Incubus, Foo Fighters and Pearl Jam. Described as “a band with good energy and singable lyrics”, they've played S.I. 50th Anniversary Tour, NPPL World Series, clubs throughout L.A., toured the country, and had extensive airplay on internet and indie stations.

Biography

“Going to Los Angeles / Wants to be famous / It’ll be fabulous”. While these lyrics from “Lost Angeles” epitomize the thoughts of many artists who move to L.A., the four members of the alternative rock band 39 Reasons are determined to not live out the cliché described in their own song. With influences ranging from U2 to Weezer to Aerosmith to Pearl Jam, 39 Reasons creates original, modern songs that are commercial while still maintaining an edge. Fans of bands such as Incubus, Foo Fighters and U2 will find a familiar, yet fresh sound with this band. Vocals hint at Brandon Boyd with an Eddie Vedder growl thrown in.

Created in December 2003, 39 Reasons played its first show two months later to a sold out crowd at 14 Below in Santa Monica. Since then, they have performed at many Los Angeles venues, and high profile events including Sports Illustrated’s 50th Anniversary Tour at its stop at the Santa Monica Pier, and the National Professional Paintball League World Series in San Diego. In August 2005, they successfully completed their first cross country tour, hitting St. Louis, Lancaster (PA), Philadelphia, Springfield (MA), Nashville, El Paso and Phoenix. This tour gave them their first opportunity to meet many of their fans face to face for the first time.

Songs from their cd can be heard on internet, college and indie radio stations worldwide. Garden rates among the top rated downloads, and most played songs on Radio Wazee. Photograph received high praise and an honorable mention in the alternative rock category of the 2004 Billboard World Song Contest. All Access Magazine calls them “a Modern Rock band with good energy and singable lyrics”, and says that Lost Angeles “sounds like something you’d regularly hear on your local radio station”.

Nate Stauffer pairs his passionate vocals with an in your face attitude that can instantly take control of an audience. Brian Angely’s guitar riffs and infectious hooks partner effortlessly with a rock solid rhythm section. Bassist, Joe McLaughlin, and drummer, Scott Speer feed off of each other so well, they act as a single unit. Live shows are energetic and entertaining and leave fans wanting more. Music Connection Magazine says “39 Reasons plays an earnest and musically tight set …they have all the right moves.”

Music Vault calls them creative, original, genuine and honest and says “I could easily name 39 Reasons to love this band, but I won’t because you’ll find out for yourself.”

No excuses… 39 Reasons

Lyrics

Lost Angeles

Written By: 39 Reasons

Packs her bags and hops a plane out west
Auditions for every screen test
She’s so obsessed
She’ll try her best
Soon she’ll be pressed
To get undressed
And she’ll end up in a sticky mess
But she’ll do it again

She’s going to Los Angeles
Wants to be famous
It’ll be fabulous
Out in Los Angeles
Everyone is glamorous
But so scandalous

Small town girl who yesterday was born
Lives a life of ridicule and scorn
Stuck in porn
And she’s ignored
By directors whom
She once adored
And she claims to never have been warned
I bet she’ll do it again

She’s going to Los Angeles
Wants to be famous
It’ll be fabulous
Out in Los Angeles
Everyone is glamorous
But so scandalous
Here in Los Angeles
Agents are amorous
But she’ll pay for it
Los Angeles
Can she handle this?

Pretty girl, now, don’t you cry
Dreams eventually die
Sooner or later you will never remember
That they were marked return to sender
I don’t think that she will stay
She won’t last another day
In L.A.
In L.A.

She’s going to Los Angeles
Wants to be famous
It’ll be fabulous
Out in Los Angeles
Everyone is glamorous
But so scandalous
Here in Los Angeles
Agents are amorous
But she’ll pay for it
Los Angeles
She couldn’t handle this

Bye-Bye-Bye

Opened up a box of old photographs
I wanted to see your face
And remember all the good times that we had
At the familiar place
All the years cloak like camouflage
Memories fading thin
And your body is there like a mirage
And I’m holding you once again

I wish I knew that this would last forever
But I know that you’ll be gone
And I’ll feel guilty in the morning time
But, baby, tonight I feel just fine

Looking through a box of old photographs
Feeling like I’m there again
Funny how time changes the past
Still smell the smoke on your skin
And all the years mask the memory
And hide all the bitter pain
I remember all the promises you broke to me
And I’m hating you once again

I wish I knew that this would last forever
But I know that you’ll be gone
And I’ll feel guilty in the morning time
But, baby, tonight I feel just fine

Sick and tired of living in the past
I’m tearing up those old photographs
Sick and tired of living in my head
You’re gone, you’re gone, you’re gone, you’re gone

And I’ll feel guilty now like I’m tied and bound I feel so let down
And I’ll feel guilty now like I’m tied and bound I feel so let down
And I’ll feel guilty in the morning time
Baby tonight I’ll feel just fine

I miss that box of old photographs

Garden

Written By: 39 Reasons

Maybe I’ll think about it
Maybe I don’t even care
I’m never ever gonna change
All those things I’ve doubted
The cold eyes in my stare
Too much to rearrange
Maybe I’ll live without it
Maybe I won’t even dare
To raise my voice and complain
All those things I’ve shouted
Damaged beyond repair
But I’m trained to sit here and take the blame

Your wilted garden will grow back when you’re gone
Your wilted garden will grow back when you’re gone

Maybe I won’t regret it
Chances are I probably will
Better just to acquiesce
All my good friends get it
But I’m standing in the darkness still
I’ll just say yes to guarantee this success

Your wilted garden will grow back when you’re gone
Your wilted garden will grow back when you’re gone

Thinking . . .thinking . . .thinking . . . thinking . . .

Words chosen
Were spoken
And they left me bruised and broken

Your wilted garden will grow back when you’re gone
Your wilted garden will grow back when you’re gone
We’ll go back when you’re gone
We’ll go back when you’re gone
