"3Q Expands Midwest Venue Tour"

...and a quick blurb about 3Q: the new Chicago alternative rock band that is trending fast. The band is rapidly getting venue offers outside of Chicago. 3Q has booked several gigs at colleges and top shelf venues in the Midwest, expanding dates to Indianapolis, Ann Arbor, Madison, and St. Louis. Worth the trip. - Randy Cohen, Writer, Live Music Archive

"Local Music Beat: 3Q: New, Bold, & Honest"

There's no trickery behind 3Q. New, bold, and honest alternative rock songwriting the way it should be. It's refreshing to see a band that is not trying to something or somebody else. 3Q is what it is: 3 simple guys blasting out original high quality songs. As a new music critic, I can tell you that most acts never go past demo deals because of the dong content. Sure, they might be amazingly talented at their instruments. But, it's kinda like the aspiring actor syndrome where they get amazing head shot photos but forget that they actually have to act well. This is where 3Q shines. This band came on the scene with the purpose of writing and performing quality alternative rock songs first... everything else that's come there was has been secondary. Put 3Q on you radar. The Chicago based band is performing at several prominent clubs in January and February. - Dan Collins, Contributing Columnist, Illinois Reader

"3Q: Up and Coming"

... worth an honorable mention, 3Q, a brand new alternative rock band on the Chicago club scene, may be the most promising act out of Chicago in years. The three piece was invited back to play House of Blues Chicago for a third time after they dominated the local band showcase this October. Keep this one on your radar and stay tuned.

"3Q Dominates House of Blues Local Showcase"

House of Blues Local Showcase
10/16/12

The House of Blues put on their annual Member’s Showcase Night last night on the Back Porch Stage. Perfoming 20 minute sets, 7 bands served up the best they had to offer to the packed venue. Standing out and overwhelmingly received by the crowd was a new band to the Chicago alternative rock scene: 3Q. Their six song set included power jams like “OAO” and “Far Away”. Bold, raw, and powerful selections packed with in your face emotion. But the group also showed their tender side with their ballad “6 in a World of 10’s”, displaying well thought out and skillful songwriting technique and production. This band is more than the typical micro-trend act that forgets that writing quality songs is part of the deal. 3Q delivers from all angles: performance, production, and raw sonic emotion. Their latest CD can be sampled on line at www.3QuartersMusic.com.

"3Q Jams for Lungevity"

The Red Eye Review
10/20/12

3Q wowed the crowed yet again at the Lungevity Charity Jam at Four Farthings in Lincoln Park last night. In a rare departure from their original material, the band whipped out a few of the Lungevity Founder’s favorite cover tunes. After speaking with bass guitarist, Tom Spalla, I learned that the band members had actually gone to school with Lungevity Founder, Jill Feldmen. “It’s a great opportunity for 3Q to play for a great cause and help fight the war on lung cancer” echoed Don Bon, 3Q Drummer. Lead vocalist, Nick Heiden chimed in, “Jill and I were neighbors growing up… she’s a great person and we’re honored to be here to support her charity”. 3Q is fast emerging as one of Chicago’s hottest unsigned alternative rock bands. Their single “OAO” is trending on social media sites and gaining attention of radio stations such as WXRT. 3Q is scheduled to play a series of gigs at The House of Blues Chicago over the next few months. Stay tuned for details.

"3Q Rocks the House of Blues"

3Q Rocks the House of Blues

Trust me, as a music journalist, I’ve listened to 1000’s of new unsigned bands. Maybe three per 1000 actually have the talent to make it. After hearing 3Q rule the House of Blues Foundation Room last night, they are definitely one of those top three. 3Q blasts away the competition with superior songwriting.

Every offering on their set list is like a custom tailored sonic feeling. Nick Heiden, 3Q guitarist elaborated on their songwriting philosophy, “It’s kinda like trying to capture a floating spirit with a butterfly net… elusive, maybe only existing for a few seconds within us.. that’s why great songs come around only once in a while.”

If so, 3Q has definitely captured more than just a few spirits. Their song offerings go from bold to minimalist and honest. “OAO” is reminiscent of the Ramones with a modernized emulation. “Coming Home” is more traditionally honest, with raw emotion pouring out and refusing to be dressed up in any distractive production. If you have not checked this band out, put them on your short list. 3Q is on a fast track to becoming one of the best unsigned songwriting alternative rock bands in the past decade.
