3rdSide is a rock/reggae band originally from nowhere, but most recently found in Nashville, Tennessee. Vocals, strings, and songs are Derek Windle, and bass is Jeremiah Martel. Since forming in 2002, 3rdSides’ credits include television and radio performances, internet play, compilation cds, live shows, website music development, recording, and production. In 2006, 3rdSide released their first CD, The Sunroom Sessions, containing 13 original tracks that include reggae, rock, instrumental, blues, ballad, island, and alternative flavours.

Watcha Started

Written By: Derek Windle-3rdSide

*In loving memory of Robert Nesta Marley* Jah Live

Look what your children have started
Cause it's troublin' me
Don't know your symbol has parted
Or what forever means
But we can refrain from some of the things we say
And halfhearted believe
If you can just stay with me
I got this feelin' you can wake me up

Cause i'm on the way down
But it feels just like a party, girl
I'm on the way down
Look watcha started somehow

A soulful redemption that reaches within
When Jah music hittin' those streets
Rhythmes and revelations
People and celebrations
3rdSide forever be rockin' your beats
And i'm tellin' you that you can be loved
By the better part of me
Because i'm lovin the comin and goin and runnin
To catch up to somethin that's lookin so lovely and waiting for me

Cause i'm on the way down
But it feels just like a party, girl
I'm on the way down
Look watcha started

Some days ya feel like ya livin' in rain

I'm on the way down
And ya feel just like a party, girl
I'm on the way down
Look watcha started
I'm on the way down
And ya feel just like a party girl
I'm on the way down
Look watcha started, somehow

Min It Rice

Written By: 3rdSide

A closer look is taken at each of us
Ami the one you fear ami the one you trust
Is she the one you choose or the one you lust?
A closer look is deeper but it's not enough
To fill you in with

A closer look is taken at each of us
So how do you accuse the one you say you loved
Was the hour me is the minute us?
A closer look is deeper but it's not enough
To fill your oceans with

Know You Then

Written By: 3rdSide

Here i lie
And i can't stop wishin' this on myself
In my mind
We don't look so separated
How those colors died
From a bleeding gold to a fading sky
In your eyes

These tides are not for shores
As close as the nearest star
Conceptual Insight
You/Then
I knew you then

Full of pride
But can it be stronger than my will
To survive
Even when my heart is breakin'
Now those colors died
To a fading gold in a bleeding sky
In your eyes

These tides are not for shores
As cruel as the nearest stars
Conceptual Insight
You/Then
I knew you then

Criminals

Written By: 3rdSide

It's too early to be leavin'
No whistle blowin'
No train steamin' down your one way track
You want respect, man, you can't steal it
Scandal informer-spill your secret
But you can't get it back
It's out of the bag

So give me one time
Give me two times
Give me three times to get it right

I'll give ya one time
I'm givin' ya two times
But on the third try get it right

Some a dem criminals
Accuse us a smokin' that shit
But they keep it subliminal
Can ya follow me rhymes
Do ya need to rewind?
So hypocritical
So "come run" me now
But ya better be wise
When you're droppin' that dime
If i gotta do time
Then i'm doin' the crime

Don't follow me round, yeah
Because we're keepin' it underground
Don't follow me round, yeah
Jah music kickin' the crucial sounds
So pass it around, yeah
You're smokin' my rhymes for FREE
3rdSide's still wicked and wiley
So what more could Jah want from me?
What more could you want from me?

Set List

Typical Set List always varies. I can play a show for 45 mins (the typical), or for hours and hours, depending on the requirements of the venue. Typically my sets are based 70% originals to 30% covers, but that also varies upon interest of the audience and type of venue. Typical covers will include songs from Marley and the Beatles, all the way up through and including Howie Day, Jason Mraz, Alice In Chains, and Tracy Chapman, to name a few. If it's a good song, i try to learn it. My covers are always interpretations, and never reguritations, however, so be prepared for a new slant on an old twist.
