3 Steps East are a three piece band consisting of lifelong friends, Ali Barnard, Matt Jan-Janin and Ayrton Peel. Since 2009 they have been playing together a medley of cover versions from an assortment of artists such as Mumford & Son, Newton Faulkner, Johnny Flynn and Jack Johnson which begun to influence their style of music. Playing these acoustic covers in small venues, for friends and at school concerts gained the band considerable confidence and experience and in a short space of time they began writing and composing their own songs.
In September 2010 armed with an individual and upbeat sound, they decided on the name 3 Steps East. This then led them on to enter into Gloucester Youth’s Got Talent and performing their own truly original composition, secured themselves a place in the final round. They also recently won an award for Best Original Composition for their track ‘Changing Heart’ at The Door Undiscovered Youth talent competition in Stroud.
