After forming, 3X7 began playing shows in the western Kansas area. Surrounded by nothing but the desire to hear country music from all the local fans, they found the need to learn and play hours of cover songs as well as their original music at their shows. In the spring of 2005, the band self-recorded their 9-track debut album at their music production studio in WaKeeney, KS. After pressing 1,000 copies, 3X7 proceeded to support their album and their single "You can fly" by expanding their statewide tour, with all booking conducted by the band. While going through many lineup changes, James and Paul are the only remaining members that formed the band. Kenny Zahn was added in late 2004 at the age of 17, and Zach at the age of 16 in 2007. In the fall 2006, Kenny attended the Guitar Institute of Technology in Hollywood, CA, while the other members continued to tour as a 3-piece. Upon Kenny's graduation, they re-entered the studio to write and record their second studio album. In September of 2008, the band recorded their tracks at Planet Paul Productions in Wichita, KS, with Paul Carter and Broadway engineer Gabriel Bennett. 3X7 mastered their new album at their studio, Mostly Music Productions, and pressed 1,000 copies for release in January of 2009.

3X7's biggest accomplishments came from the hard work ethic and determination within the band. Let alone booking every show and tour themselves, their live performance has become their niche. Making a point to learn all of their covers note-for-note and add a modern edge to the songs, they are gaining spotlight for the covers they've put together; as well as enhancing their light and stage shows. 3X7 is also the band who has coined the name "Aluminum Rock", a hybrid genre of rock that follows the characteristics of the metal aluminum, "hard, yet malleable". With their diverse talent, the band prides themselves with their claim that, “There is no song written that we cannot perform.” Robert Savoy, music promoter and critic in Wichita, KS, says about 3X7, “By far, the best unsigned band I’ve seen.” Over the last few years, 3X7 has performed from Alabama to L.A. and across the Midwest. These guys have competed in battles of the bands from Nebraska to Colorado, and were also selected to continue to the next rounds in 2005's Bo dog’s Battle of the Bands.

3X7 is currently preparing a tour for 2009 in support of their new CD along with selling the last of their debut, t-shirts, and other merchandise. They recently had the opportunity to make a live DVD which will be available in the beginning of 2009. With larger demands of the recording industry, 3X7 is also working on upgrading their studio and live sound company. And just after releasing their second album, these guys are already recording the tracks to their next double cd release featuring both a full length acoustic and rock album. The band continues to revise their songwriting skills and plans to impact commercial pop radio with their next release. With an unstoppable attitude, 3X7 will not have a day of their schedules open until early 2010.
