4ovakind

To say that family was the foundation of the group 4ovakind would truly be an understatement. These four gentlemen, Frederick Perry, A.J. Davis, Bryan Hamilton and Byron Hensley, all hailing from Paducah, Kentucky, personify what the true meaning of family really is. Family has been defined as two or more people who share goals and values -- who have long-term commitments to one another; 4ovakind is truly more than that. Having a fond understanding of one another and where each person’s strengths and weaknesses lie have brought this group to a place in their music where they have discovered that there is no turning back.

4ovakind mixes a rare blend of attitude, energy, songwriting and performance that has allowed the group to cross various genres of music and reach a whole new level in the definition of music itself. The group mixes a little bit of urban, contemporary, jazz and soul to create a sound distinctively all their own. Lifelong friends and family, these four men have all cited their Christian upbringing and relationship with the church as the foundation for their group and for where their music will go in the years to come. They hope that their understanding of one another and the meaning behind music and its words will make them stand in a class apart from the competition.

Now to meet the members:

A.J. Davis (a/k/a AJD) is the youngest member of 4ovakind. But don’t let his age fool you, AJD is no stranger to the stage or to the evolution of music, he’s been performing in church choirs and choirs across the state for years and has no intentions of stopping there. Currently a junior at the University of Kentucky, AJD has his sights set on moving forward with not only his educational career but his musical career as well. He looks forward to the challenge of balancing both as he and the group move forward.

Bryan Hamilton (a/k/a B.Nyce) is the eldest member of 4ovakind and brings a certain amount of maturity and respect to the group. A former two-sport athlete and student, B.Nyce has developed a certain understanding of what it takes to balance the acts to succeed in both educational and personal pursuits. Currently, a senior at the University of Kentucky majoring in Physical Therapy B.Nyce has discovered that success takes not only dedication but perserverance as well. He intends on bringing much knowledge and stability to the group in their endeavors to become a class all of their own.

Byron Hensley (ak/a B-Ron) was the final addition to completing the formula in the making of 4ovakind. He brings a certain calm, classy sort of quality to the group that none of the others seem to possess. Separated from the others for a time in Detroit, B-Ron has truly learned the strength behind the group’s relationship – dedication. Time and distance my try on each others emotions but never their hearts and B-Ron is perfect proof of that.

Frederick Perry (a/k/a/ Fredy P) is the heart and soul of 4ovakind with his carefree attitude and appreciation for what the group is and what it will become. A lover of the composition of music and the ideas behind it, Fredy P has allowed himself to expand across many faces of music and enjoy its deeper meaning. A senior at the University of Kentucky majoring in Communication, Fredy P brings a little funk and style to the group that the guys have learned to appreciate. It is his carefree spirit that intrigues his audience and his dedication to the fans that keeps him “the man with the smile of an angel.”
