Bio
If you were to throw Jerry Garcia, Dave Schools, Stewart Copeland, Karl Denson, and Joe Satriani into a funk/jam band, you would get the 500 Funk Express! With solid funk grooves, morphing jams and killer transitions they are sure get the crowd groovin' and booties movin'. The 500 Funk Express plays everything from the Meters to the Greatful Dead, from Traffic to Cypriss Hill, from The Doors to Tom Waits, but all with their signature funk stylings, and originals that defy the standard funk genre ranging from rock, jazz, raggae, and funk all within the same songs. Many of their influences are groove related ranging from the Meters, Widespread Panic, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Greatful Dead, Galactic, P-Funk, Karl Denson's Tiny Universe, also progressive influences like Joe Satriani, Rush, Jethro Tull. Originally formed over a year ago under a different name and a slightly different line-up, the 500 Funk Express has since honed their sound, their songs, and their jams. The chemistry on stage is electrifying and the crowd just can't help but feel it!
