Bio

‘Natalie has a great voice, her songs are hooky and ooze potential. Natalie has what it takes to get ahead in this business; charisma, a great work ethic and that elusive “X Factor”. Ian Avery, National Programme Director, The Breeze. In December 2005, Natalie’s song ‘Real Feeling’ was one of the 9 songs from around 360 applications to receive a New Recording Artist grant from NZONAIR. Natalie is one of few artists in the South Island of NZ to achieve this. The chosen song 'Real Feeling' utilises oustanding international session musicians including Drummer Andy Sylvio (Pete Murray), and Guitarist Rex Goh (Air Supply, Savage Garden). The song was Recorded and produced by Russell Finch in Sydney NSW with sections Co-produced by Natalie Elms. Mixed in Auckland NZ by the legendary Nic Manders (Katchafire, Goldenhorse, The Electric Confectionaires) and mastered in New York also under Nic's guidance, recording just one song has been a truly International affair, a taste of things to come!! In October 2007 NZONAIR generously granted the song Video Funding. The wonderful director Giles Lambert (U.K/Sydney) took on production of the video which was shot at Bungan Beach, one of Sydney's beautiful Northern beaches. Natalie was resident at Satchmo Cafe in Lyttelton NZ for over two years. She became very much a part of the well-known restaurant, at home entertaining guests with Piano and Vocal every Friday and on Guitar and Vocal most Sundays. Natalie recently performed twice on CTV's 'Good Living Show'. She loves having a chat with presenter Vanessa Wells and playing her songs, one was actually written especially for Mother's day on request from the show's producer, Mary McKeich. After the fun of supporting the talented Ben Kemp (Tokyo, N.Z) at N.Z's Harbourlight Theatre, Natalie put on her own show. The wonderful 'Three of Hearts' (Malo Seumanutafa, Reuben Stone, and Jesse Hughes) were kindly suggested by friend and musician Naomi Ferguson as the players who would put Natalie's originals in a band context for the first time. Everyone had a blast and also got to see the premiere of 'Real Feeling' the music video!! Natalie has: Lived and performed in Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Surabaya, Bangkok, Bali, Singapore, Macau, Melbourne, Sydney, Christchurch, Wellington, and Auckland - - Perfect pitch - the ability to identify chords on hearing them - - Two brothers and one sister with extraordinary musical talents. All sing, write, and play instruments. Her sister Jo also has a myspace page: www.myspace.com/joelmsmusic - - Spent three years learning Alexander Technique under Julia Oakley in Christchurch New Zealand. She undertook the Technique to alleviate vocal damage that was caused by over-performing and singing 'on the voice'. Natalie's brother Jon Elms also studied under Julia and uses the same method that promotes release of tension and muscle interference which can constrict voice production - - Is a yoga addict and has been practicing for close to ten years. She has had a variety of teachers in Korea, Singapore, and Christchurch - - Recently moved to London - - ‘What other people have felt through my music and given back to me is something I treasure'
