Bio

Fifty Four Square Foot Trampoline

The history behind

The 54 Sq. Ft. Trampoline project was born around Y2K in Montreal city. The original purpose was to create a serie of different and evolving demos.

The very first one was an instrumental electro-pop demo with lots of analog synths, electronic bass and drum machine...very catchy...like in the 80's.

The second one was a kind of experimental electro-jazz demo...with vocals of a friend of mine.

The third one was a pop project...with vocals of another friend and a lot more real instruments played by real people. I wanted to compose accessible pop melodic music but too not far away from underground music. I think that one could be appreciated by fans of The Delgados as well as fans of Kylie Minogue...but cannot play on commercial radio...

For the fourth, I wanted to write and perform some kind of underground melancholic folk songs and this is what I've done...I think. People need melancholic songs. I'm sure those songs can bring sunshine for someone who doesn’t want to feel solitude in some sad situation...when listening...

The full lengh CD, ‘’that simple’’, released with a San Diego label named ‘’Hill Billy Stew’’ is a cross between the electro-pop of the third and the intimate folk of the fourth album...

It was for the fourth demo that the band appeared more like a real band...
