"Local musician makes nationwide debut in theaters"

It may seem like a strange place to start picking up listeners, but Shelley Barratt is thrirlled that the song "Goodbye" (Muriel Sweetsong) off her Origin of Flight album will be showcased in the February 2009 Cinemasounds programming. "Goodbye" will play in over 6.500 theaters (including Regal, AMC, UA and Edwards) across the country, and if you happen to view a film in any of these theaters over the next month, you'll probably also hear Barratt's song. The album, Origin of Flight was released on Pasadena, Calif. label Rescue Records, but Barratt and the Shelley Barratt Band (Bob Reynolds, Jimmy LaPrelle, Gladys Tangub, and Marc Miller) are currently unsigned.

... If you hear "Goodbye" at the next flick you take in, be sure to visit cinemasounds.com and leave your feedback.

Bio

5 Revolving Doors is female-fronted Indie-Rock-Americana music. The crafty and inspired tunes are unconventional, yet accessible. Through driving rhythms and melodic sensibilities, Shelley’s clear voice offers intimacy and insight.

With different generations and musical backgrounds, members of 5RD have had various successes in their own right with music and beyond; that's what makes this synergy so special. Besides signing Shelley's album, Origin of Flight, to Rescue Records for music licensing, the band's songs have received acclaim in the Billboard World Song Contest and a USA Song Contest, have been featured in Cinemasounds in theatres across the country, have been nominated for Fame Games Effigy Awards and ‘Reviewers Picks’, and more.

Currently based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, 5 Revolving Doors released new music in 2009-10, filmed a music video, and is working on more recordings at The Hit Factor and REMA Records.

Shelley Barratt, a child of the southwest, sang lead with the
regionally-known band, Sub Culture, and has collaborated with artists of all kinds, including recording artists signed to indie and major record labels. She performed at festivals, including Folk Alliance and Hyperactive, and at venues from Nashville to San Jose. She has hosted acoustic and women’s showcases, and created music for modern dance, special occasions and visual media. Shelley’s music has piqued the interest of dancers, authors and visionaries. Shelley is a "Jill of All Trades" with a penchant for high-tech and creative business ventures.

Jimmy LaPrelle, on drums, has experience with classical and percussive music and performed with the Albuquerque Youth Symphony Program including a performance highlight at Carnegie Hall. In addition to acclaim through collegiate Jazz and other school-related honors and bands, Jimmy studied under an NMSO percussionist. Apart from studying drums, Jimmy spent a year
abroad studying in Heidelberg Germany, and was recently accepted into the acclaimed Musicians Institute.

David DeBonis, tenured and smooth on the bass, has decades of experience playing the electric bass as well as double bass, upright, acoustic bass, and classical guitar. He has also studied composition and post-tonal theory at UNM in addition to performing live, touring, and studio work with pro and indie bands such as The Strawberry Zots, Rio Duende, Ant Farmers, The Remains, JFKixx, The Chesterfields, Angry Babies and more.
David plays with both texture and tone melding styles from French Cabaret to Argentinean Tango, straight ahead to free Jazz, Gypsy Folk to psychedelic pop. David is also a software engineer and tends his own vineyard.
