"The Reader"

“Their new material has a very college alt-rock feel, drawing comparisons to The Jayhawks and Big Head Todd and the Monsters, some songs rock, while others there’s a more country-folk vibe.” - Kevin Hervert

Look and See
Leaving Everything Behind

Feeling a bit camera shy

5 Story Fall has a great mix of singer/songwriter Folk, Guitar Rock, Pop and Americana. The band has been together for more than 7 years, and has 2 albums to boast about. There have been difficult times with changes in personnel and record label speed bumps big enough to break up most groups. But 5 Story Fall has a focus and a goal to writing with passion and a strong devotion to creating meaningful songs to continue beyond the hurdles. The latest CD “Leaving Everything Behind” is the perfect balance of vibe driven Pop and guitar drizzled Rock.

Eric Ebers (Ritual Device) provides a studied punk rock influence to his drumming after touring with Ritual Device for many years as an opening act for many well known punk bands like Killdozer and the Jesus Lizard, not to mention that David Wm Simms (Jesus Lizard) produced their album. Ritual Device was also a featured band on the Lollapalooza 93 tour. Ebers received a degree in music that brings control and structure as well as intelligence to his playing ability. Ebers doesn’t just settle for the run-of-the-mill beat, he usually decides to choose something obscure and contrapuntal, which adds texture to the 5 Story Fall sound.
Pat Gerhman (Shovelhead) has a captivating voice that can be both subtle and in-your-face raw. Gerhman is the primary songwriter in the band, both lyrically and melodic, and always makes sure the songs can stand by themselves before the rest of the band steps in. With the ability to perform by himself, he has taken many of the 5 Story Fall songs and fine-tuned them performing alone. Many performers look to Gerhman as an influential member in the local scene, and he is well-known for being one of the founders of the “acoustic”(in the round) series in Omaha. Gerhman also attended the Kansas City Art Institute and his eye for “art” is also a huge influence on the members in the band.
Bryan Elder has an approach to guitar playing that is sublte and smart. His ideas always add layers that would never exist without his knowledge. Elder has an amazing knowledge of gear and his ears are a huge asset in the studio.
Craig Meier (60 Watt Saloon, Hong Jyn Corp) is the newest 5SF member, and is the man that provides the demanding presence and new energy to the live show. Craig is a terrific songwriter in his own right, and the new songs that 5 Story Fall has introduced to the lucky Omaha crowds as of late, has seen an intelligent change to the sound. Craig is a long needed and well deserved new member to 5 Story Fall.

Shut Eye Records will feature 5 Story Fall on their March/April release of the “Buzzlighter” 10 series CD Compilation. The band plans on touring throughout the Summer months and hitting the studio again in the Fall. Stay Tuned….
