6'6 240

Born in the back room of a trailer home in the coke oven hollows of Hawks Nest West Virginia, 6’6 240 has experienced racism, and poverty on a first name basis. Numb to burning crosses in his lawn, police harassment, and teachers telling him to concentrate on a trade because niggers don’t go to college, 6’6 240 decided it was time to break the cycle. Being the son of international published poet Norman Jordan, a member of the 1970’s black arts movement, painting vivid word pictures of personal life and struggle came natural. 6’6 240’s debut CD “Big Boi Tactics” has a recurring theme that’s refreshing for hip hop and that’s self esteem via West Virginia pride. Songs like “Country Boy” and “ONE” describes life in one of America’s most poverty stricken states. In the song “ONE” 6’6 240 tells a true story of waking up in the middle of the night to sounds of gun shots and a cross burning in his front yard, just to see his Uncle come and snatch it out the ground with his bare hands. He calls his music “Trailer Park Hip Hop”, unique stories of how many West Virginia youth survive, and try and find a way to escape poverty, and install self pride.

In 1999 6’6 240 created the group 304 Reconz, which in the next 3 years would become West Virginia’s most popular hip hop act. Known for their “energetic and interactive live shows,” 304 Reconz built a huge fan base in West Virginia, and received national attention as finalist on MTV’s Video Freestyle competition. In 2003 6’6 240 released his first solo effort “The Best Of 6’6 240”, the song “6’6 is everything” was voted by Chuck D of Public Enemy as one of his top unsigned songs of 2003 on his website rapstation.com. For the next couple of years while recording material for his debut CD “Big Boi Tactis”, 6’6 240 dove into the mixtape circuit releasing five mixtapes in a two year period flooding the state with his music. His live performances where getting him shows up and down the east coast, opening up for major recording acts like Lil Jon, Ying Yang Twins, TI, Trina, Bonecrusher, Fuel, Busta Rhymes, Wyclef, Xzibit, Black Eyed Peas, and many more, but it wasn’t until he opened for Bubba Sparxx that would get the break he was looking for.

In 2004 Bubba Sparxx took 6’6 240 on the road with him, and they recorded “The HellBoy Mixtape” (2004) together they received outstanding reviews. They then both went in the studio to support each others latest releases, 6’6 240’s Big Boi Tactics (2005), and Bubba Sparxxx’s The Charm (2006). You can find 6’6 240 in Bubba Sparxxx’s new music video “Heat it up” (2006), and on the 2006 release of “Girls Gone Wild DVD” hosted by Bubba Sparxxx. 6’6 240 has also recently received more national attention by being featured in a NY Times Article “For Many West Virginians, Leaving Is First Step Home,” (2006).

6’6 240 is currently recording new music for his upcoming sophomore release, and performing around the country, proving that small town boys can do BIG things.
