I’m not good at these review things, but I’ve had the pleasure of having friends that do kick ass things, one of which is have a fucking mad decent local punk rock band, like 69 NOSES!!!! I’ve been going to many of their shows recently and thought I should review their newest EP entitled S!M!D! since I bought it. As promised to the bassist, this will NOT be a shitty review!
Oh yeah, and if you want some visual accompaniment to this half mast review, you should go to our show at Kirby’s on the 11th, or their Hot Rails hotel show on the 2nd!

This delicious piece of music is encapsulated in a handmade, linoleum printed cd case… WITH FUCKING GLITTER ON IT! Yes please!

What does S!M!D! stand for?…………………………….. Suck. My. Dick.

The namesake of this punk rock pantheon of an EP is also the first track.
Classic punk with a mix of garage in there for all you fancy pants hipsters out there (I vomited in my mouth when I typed that part). I tend to like explicit music, so I was keen to enjoying a song called ‘suck my dick’, in addition to the fact that 69 noses is lead by a female bodied vocalist (who kicks major ass live, by the way).

Pet of the week follows the title track.
The lyrics of that one can only direct to sex, which is awesome, because most female vocalists never really refer to their mates as ‘pets’, so it’s nice to hear a chick use a boy (everyone knows straight guys do that shit all the time… ew… ew…).

The last track, and my personal favorite of the ep, is Man’s Guitar.
A slick number to close a fun punk EP. It’s important to help support bands trying to broaden the local music landscape a bit from just indie rock and hipster trash.

Although, my only negative of this record is that it lacks that rough, aggressive, anti-everything punk feeling that I would sell my anal parts for! But a beggar can’t afford to be choosy, and this record is written and produced well, so I’ll take this or that radio shite any day! - Modern Cult Classic
