Bio
6MX is a solo music project founded in 2012 by the Paris-based, French artist Gauthier Amano. Gauthier Amano grew up listening mainly to hip-hop and techno. Since the early 2000s, his curiosity led him to deep exploration of other genres (electronica, trip-hop, funk, indie rock, jazz, folk, classical...). As a DJ and music enthusiast, he collects about 3,000 records a year.
In 2007, he had a “déclic” on listening to Warp Records and Ed Banger music. Inspired to bring something new to the world of music, he resolved to compose and produce his own tracks.
He worked hard for years in the shadows, with the goal of reaching people with a sound both personal and mature. He performed various DJ sets in clubs and bars as a guest DJ. He published cutting-edge mixtapes and videos. In 2012, as part of a decision to begin revealing part of his music project, he released a remix of Danny Brown's "Grown Up" under the artist name 6MX. Parisian label 6DISCS releases his self-titled debut EP 6MX this year.
