As a child of the eighties whose mother never let her change the radio station I was subjected to a lot of 60s and 70s am radio. As a result I was exposed to a pretty wide range of music. In addition to new wave, hip hop was just beginning. My mother also listened to motown/soul stations. As a result of simply spending 2years first in boarding school and then going on to college I met people from all over the world and with them their music collections.
College is where my deep and abiding love for Portishead gripped me and I loved the sound, but it had been done (quite well I thought too). I wanted to make my music so I listened to some of my favorite songs and tried to get a feel for what I could create.

My favorite musical decade is the 70s because of disco and funk and because of classic/psychedelic rock. It was a time of revolution and the music reflected that. The music then was very relevant not only to that particular time but also beyond. Whether it is actually about war or dissapointment in government/society or an "everything thing sucks so lets party kind of thing.

It's very relatable. And that is the kind of music I make.
