7 Bridges Plays The Palace

Corsicana native Jason Manning, 38, spends his life portraying Eagles’ guitarist Glen Frey in Eagles tribute band 7 Bridges, the Ultimate Eagles Experience which will perform at the Palace Theatre on April 26 as part of Derrick Days.

“We do an exact replication of an Eagles’ concert,” Manning said. “Each member portrays an Eagles character and does whatever he would do. A lot of tribute bands are more of a production than a show, but we’re the real deal.”

Manning, son of John and Suzanne Manning, grew up in Corsicana and graduated from Corsicana High School in 1988. He graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in communications where he started a band called Touch’Ngo.

Between 1994 and 1995, Manning recorded two independent albums on Blue Jay Records label — “Texas Avenues” and “Writing on the Wall” — and toured the south until moving to Nashville to become a producer.

Manning lived in Nashville for eight years where he honed his craft by working with several big names of the country music industry including Don Ellis Gatlin, Billy Montana and Tim Johnson, and most importantly, Buzz Cason, who Manning said was instrumental in his development as a manager and producer.

In 2004, Manning moved back to Corsicana and became involved with the Palace Theatre, the Main Street board, and the Corsicana Education Foundation. He married wife Rachel in July 2005, and helped found the Corsicana Preservation Foundation in 2007 before moving to Dallas where he currently resides.

“I feel a great sense of pride having grown up in Corsicana,” Manning said. “And I feel an obligation to help protect and preserve the history and character of our charming town.”

In December 2006, Manning’s long-time friend Doug Gery asked him to join an Eagles tribute band known as Tequila Sunrise that Rolling Stone Magazine hailed as “The Best Eagles Band on Earth.” The band presented a different type of tribute performance with real harmonies and an almost-identical replication of past Eagles concerts. Each member portrayed his own Eagles member and sang every part — harmony or solo — that their character sang.

However, in January 2008, band founder Paul Sidorti began touring with country star Taylor Swift, and the band continued under a new identity: 7 Bridges, the Ultimate Eagles Experience with Manning as Glenn Frey, Keith Thoma as Don Henley, Alex Stevens in the roles of both Randy Meisner and Timothy B. Schmidt, Kevin Key — a new addition — as the inimitable Joe Walsh, Douglas Gery as guitar wizard Don Felder, and Vernon Roop as Joe Vitale.

On top of being the “Ultimate Eagles Experience,” 7 Bridges is also producing an original project with songs written and sung by different members in the band. The new band has sold out shows across the nation including the House of Blues in Dallas, and continues to carry on the tradition of excellently portraying their Eagles idols.

Tickets — which include a fajita dinner, concert, and meet and greet with the band after the show — were scheduled to go on sale March 27 for $35 each.

Call the Palace box office at (903) 874-7792 for more information on tickets, which vary in price.
