BandAlternativeRock

7g is an all original guitar driven hard rock band with a solid rythm section & their own unique vocal style (think Soundgarden meets Radiohead). Made up of 5 musicians, some vetran & some new raw talent, 7g provides a high energy & entertaining live show.

Biography

7g was formed in 2007 by former "Part Time Prophet" band mates Bret Wilson & Bob Jacobs. Tired of playing on the cover band circuit for 10 years, Bret invited Bob to write lyrics for the song that would become "Smooth" within a weeks time. Intrigued by the quick turn around, Bret gave Bob 2 demo recordings to see what he could do with them. Soon there after, "Hostage" & "No Idea" were in the bag. They then decided to form an act to perform these and other original songs. Anyone who has ever tried to put together a band knows that it can be a daunting task, but as fate would have it, Bob discovered that his neighbors Rick Seifken (Sr) (guitars) & Scott Wyman (drums) were also looking for a band to join. Lastly, Rick Ursin (Jr) (guitars) was brought in to fatten up the sound. With all the pieces in place, the only thing missing was a name. As the list grew larger & larger, nothing seemed to fit the band. Months passed without anything catching the guys' interest until one night while watching "The Simpons," Bret had an epiphany when Homer's work station in sector 7g was mentioned in the episode. Dropping the "sector", 7g was born. A heavy mix of blues, metal, pop, & even a little country, 7g has created a style all their own. The band's Innovative writing & personal lyrics take you down many roads of ups and downs, passion & pain & lives lived (sometimes on the darker side). With experienced showmanship & a kinetic stage presence, 7g never fails to entertain.

Disintegration

Written By: Bret Wilson & Robert Jacobs

I miss The Church's zone, a sure thing you can really know
I want to see less of this night
I know I've been through fire, the cover's thin, ain't no lyin'
You know you got me feelin' just right

That's really how it is
The more you know, the less there is
I want to hide in this night
It seems the glue that's holding all of these
Is letting loose, piece by piece
So lonely in this night

All this thinking tastes sure like dyin', it comes on any night
So many things to explain
Maybe I can't handle these, like dust in a gentle breeze
Flows away with the rain

That's realy how it is
The more you know, the less there is
I want to hide in this night
It seems the glue that's holding all of these
Is letting loose piece by piece
So lonely in this night

That's really how it is
The more you know the less there is
Can't seem to hide in this night
It seems the glue that's holding all of these
Is letting loose piece by piece
So lonely in this night
So lonely in this night

All that talking and nothing to say
Watching it all drift away
Drift away into the endless night
Forever's hard to change
Seems so long, seems so strange
Just disappears into the night

You stare and you stare and you stare some more
But the view to your soul lies beyond the door
Beyond that point we must all explore
Where there's everthing or there's nothing more
Think like that, give the screw a turn
Where up is down and the rest is burned
And all things solid just drift away
Disintegration, it's come today
Disentegration!!

Cuts

Written By: Bret Wilson & Robert Jacobs

That cold feeling, like a man on the streets
Adjusting to changing times
It takes all I do to do what I need
You know, I got no other time
And in the end you're just a stranger among the least of these,
Staring up at the Shadows doing as they please

And I thought I saw it all
But that's too much to hold
And she said " I know why, it's because..."

You don't know how deep the cuts can go
And in the blink of an eye
If they want they can cut you right down to the bone
They don't even have to try

It begins when you feel like that
You know, like you're feelin' strange
I can't believe I could ever feel like that
But you know, I couldn't even change
You've become so cold, feel only that
What else could you know?
Feels so wrong which ever way you go
But you know you got to go
And she said " I know..."

Just how deep those cuts can go
And in the blink of an eye
If they want they'll cut right down to the bone
They wont even tell you why

They don't tell you why
They won't tell you why
They don't got to tell you why...

Just how deep the cuts can go
And in the blink of an eye
If they want they'll cut you deep down to the bone
They don't even have to try

You got your bloodstained facination
And it freezes in you brain,
Goes rolling 'round inside my little heart
Soaking up the pain
You say you see it's changing
But I see it's just the same
You want a lie?
I can tell a little lie
You need a lie?
Just a little lie?

Slither

Written By: Bret Wilson & Robert Jacobs

Do you hear the slither of the shamans
As they snake into your brain
They're going to feast upon your fear of death,
Of loneliness and pain
You know you had a chance, a chance to get away
But now there's something wrong
What it is you couldn't say

It's not what they say but how they say
As they sell you back your fear
With knowing smiles that say they know
How to keep what you hold dear
See the Shamans smiling, smiling like a gun
You better run, you better run

For ten percent they're selling you
Hollywood dreams
A special soundtrack of screams
A fanfare of secrets, it's a magical show
Is that a man behind the curtain?
You don't want to know

Call them doctor, call them lawyer, maybe call them priest
They're selling life, they're selling freedom, and refuge from The Beast
See the Shamans smiling, smiling like a gun
You better run

A fanfare of secrets, They put on such a magical show
Dont ask about the man behind the curtain
If you don't want to know

Call them doctor, call them lawyer, maybe call them priest
They're selling life, they're selling freedom, and refuge from The Beast
See the Shamans smiling, like a man with a gun
You better run

You'll never know it's your last chance to go
You'll never know you better run

10 Inch Island

Written By: Bret Wilson & Robert Jacobs

Standing on a 10" island gazing at the sea
You might wonder how, maybe why
Standing on a 10" island gazing at the sea
You know I wonder 'bout the tide

Was it fate that made me feel this way,
No control just a ride
Castles made of sand can feel the waves
They're just waiting on the tide

It doesn't matter what the future holds
You can't see it til you're there
I guess it comes down to what you're doing now
I know you work so hard to get from here to there
I know you're goin' to make it even if you don't know how

You see them staring from the far distant shore
Their mumbling voice, their laughing eyes
So strange to see all the pleasure they receive
Just watching the coming tide

Was it fate that made me feel this way?
No control, just a ride
Castles made of sand can feel the waves
They're just waiting on the tide

It doesn't matter what the future holds
You can't see it til you're there
I guess it comes down to what we're doin' now
I know you work so hard to get from here to there
I know you're goin' to make it even if you don't know how

Standing on an island, holding back the sea
I've watched another day go by
Standing on an island, holding back the sea
I'm just waiting on a changing tide

I've made it through another day
I think i'm going to make it through another one

No Idea

Written By: Bret Wilson & Robert Jacobs

Always watching, never seeing
All you've needed before you eyes
Always listening but never hearing
Am I asking myself why?

You can't hold it as it's going
Long before it ever came
Were you really seeking pleasure
Or just waiting for the lack of pain

The night holds me breathless
As my heart surrounds it
Its pounding echoes miles away
Bone weary searching lets you only think it
Smiling voices shake their heads
What did they say?

You know, i'm just tryin' to feel it
Guess I'll try a little more
I just don't know if I could ever feel it
I just know I needed, I wanted more

You know you feel it, you got to feel it
It lets you know how you feel each day
You know you fear it, you really should fear it
But you never ever chase it away

Here it comes, there it goes
Whirling 'round, you ask me why
Some things I don't, but this I know
There's no truth in any answer to the question why and I ...

Had no idea, no idea
I had no idea, no idea

Perpetual motion, it's set in motion
It's going to go all the way
Stop the motion, don't stop the motion
I think it could go all the way

No idea, no idea
I had no idea it could be like this
No idea, no idea
I didn't know it would be like this
Like this

Blown to Points Beyond

Written By: Bob Jacobs

Well I can see your smile but not as before
'cause now you say we're only friends
That after all the miles we've passed together
This is where together ends
And my mind can see but my heart is numb
So strange to look at you
'Cause I know that life will go way beyond
This death we'll both live through

Caught in the wind, a dancing wind
And we're blown to points beyond
If we'd made some time but that's gone on by
To be scattered by the coming dawn
If we'd made some time but it's gone on by
Blown to points beyond

And in your smile years come like mumbling ghosts
They're heard through a driving rain
Faint echoes of times gone and not to come
Faint pleasure or was it pain
And this long, long night ain't long enough
As we come on to the dawn
To that point in time where I know it's gone
Blown to points beyond

We're caught in a wind, a dancin' wind
And we're blown to points beyond
If we'd made some time but that's gone on by
To be scattered by the coming dawn
If we'd made some time but it's gone on by
Blown to points beyond
