"Andrew Jackson Kids Showcase Their Talent"

The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus hosted a concert and announced the national songwriting contest winners at the Nashville Arena in July. Five girls from the Andrew Jackson Club joined as back-up singers for Gail Lou, the woman who won in the “children’s” song category.  This was the first time the girls performed together in public.  One of the highlights of the day was performing on the same stage as some of their favorite celebrities! Bio

What started off as a family band performing Kwanzaa programs blossomed into a CD of Children's songs and a one hour long Children's Musical Theater piece, both entitled---"7 Good Ways". The two sisters LC and T.S. Rose DeSandies (12 and 14 at the time of the recording) are the main vocalists on the CD and members of the 9 character cast of the musical. By the time the musical was produced this year, their voices and instrumental abilities (T.S play drums and LC plays bass) place them in the ranks of up and coming broadway/recording artists---in fact the entire cast (ages 15-17+2 adults) is phenomenal. Andre De Sandies (Baba) adds authentic Caribbean flavor as a professional steel drummer and Gail Lou (mom) is a professional vocalist, keyboardist/writer/composer. Shawn V. Lucas (uncle Shawn) adds the polish of production, keyboards and arrangement that sets this body of work apart from most Children's Musical projects.
The bottom line is---kids like it,--- who knew?
