"EP Review"

Brutal from the very beginning, here is the self-titled debut EP released earlier this year by Seattle's 7 Horns 7 Eyes, a metal band with a faith-based, positive message to spread through some of the heaviest music imaginable. The songs are death metal growls interspersed with cleaner vocals and melodies that are highlighted by excellent guitar work. The music has a lot of diversity while still maintaining the formula that seems to be so popular today. The band's lyrics tend toward the divine, and they are proud to be well known in the Christian metal community. It's taken a long time for this style of music to be recognized by both the metal world and the church; it was often chastised by both for not fitting in. Against all odds, 7 Horns 7 Eyes is making a commitment to both the Christian AND metal community, while paving the way for other bands, something that has only recently been accepted with labels like Solid State and Tooth And Nail supporting family friendly metal.

Some of the highlights off this six-track effort are the last two offered here, "Redefining Moment," and the growled scathing vocal mix on track "It's Not The End." For more information check out the website at www.7horns7eyes.com. - Crave Magazine - Robin Steeley

Bio

7 Horns 7 Eyes is a Christ-centered band who aims to shine light into the dark world of metal music. We believe that genre plays no role in governing a great song from a bad one. We are influenced by a very diverse collection of artists, and we focus those influences into the metal we write. Metal tends to be the most satisfying, challenging, mentally engaging, and emotive to play. We also recognize that metal is a difficult genre in which to earn a respectable musical status, so it is important to us that our music is both well thought-out and has a significant feeling of originality.
