89Minds

89Minds was started by Michael Ramirez and Alberto Rincon as a shared vision to create collaboratively constructed concept music. The two met at each other's southeast Chicago homes to hash out their musically energized ambitions. From those meetings, the 89Minds mission was born: to collaborate with the area's musicians and create a unique style of music with overarching messages of positivity, self awareness, and oneness. After connecting with close friends in November of 2012, the core of 89Minds was established.

Core members now include: Joseph Ortega, Michael Ramirez, Alberto Rincon, Eric Rodriguez, and Zanneta Smith.

With the mindset of incorporating visually innovative performances into their sound, the band's first bout of shows included covers played to a live image projection. The cover songs were arranged to thematically narrate a story written prior to the band's formation.
After several months of performances, the band settled down to begin their writing process. Highly influenced by the poetic nature of hip hop, the compositional complexity of classic & psychedelic rock, and the sound encompassing simplicity of electronic, indie, pop, and alternative rock forms - the 89Minds style began to take shape.

89Minds is now in the process of recording their first album, titled Pt. 1: Stuck on Repeat. A crowd-funding page is now set up to give fans the opportunity to support 89Minds' first recording venture. Plenty of perks are available including recording process sneak peeks, interviews, merch, and other media for MindFund supporters.
