"Latinos Will Be Front And Center At SXSW 2013"

We may still be two months away from SXSW, but the excitement for Texas’ biggest music, movie and interactive festival begins now. Several schedules for the event were released this week and, by the looks of things, Latinos will be front-and-center.

On the film side, Fede Alvarez’ Evil Dead will make its big debut at during the week of March 8. Though the exact premiere date and locale have yet to be confirmed (we’re thinking the Alamo Drafthouse), buzz is starting to grow among the fanboys. The red band trailer has already been labeled as one of the scariest of the year, with chainsaws, zombies and buckets of gore.

Fede seemed extremely excited to break the SXSW news, telling his fans via Tweet,

“We´ll be showing our #EvilDead at this year SXSW! March 8th. Who´s in!?”

Selena Gomez’ Spring Breakers movie will also get an early screening during SXSW and could be one of the most talked about movies of the festival. This coming-of-age action flick is expected to show Selena is a much more grown-up light, as a gun-toting party girl! Gomez herself said this movie is going straight for an R-rating, which means it’ll be a big hit with the “Southwest” crowd.

Music fans will have tons of Hispanic talent to sort through during the event’s concert week. In fact, SXSW devoted an entire section of its website to Latin Rock. Colombia’s 8 Kilometros booked themselves a prime slot, as did the funk outfit Papachina. Peruvian rockers Bareto will be there too, cranking out Cumbia jams in the heart of Austin.

And there will also be Hispanics leading the charge at SXSW’s interactive forums. One of the most highly-touted lectures will be “Latinos y Mobile,” set to go down on March 8. Noted tech talkers Kety Esquivel and Estuardo Rodriguez will be hosting the session, which will focus on multicultural media.

If you want to soak up every goodie that SXSW has to offer, make sure to visit their official site. And stay tuned for plenty of more updates between now and March! - Michael Lopez

- www.sonisfera.com

Bio

8KMS is a Colombian Alternative Rock Band, originated in Bogota in 2002. One of their first singles, "1, 2, 3" released in 2009, gave them a lot of recognition in the independent local Rock scene, which significantly increased their fan base.

In 2010, 8KMS released their first EP called "El Problema No Eres Tu, Soy Yo" showing a lot of energy and power in their songs, very catchy melodies and lyrics that little by little were making their followers to identify themselves and to connect with the band.

After playing at several local shows and music festivals, the band released "No Finjas Mas" a single that they wanted to present as a new era for the band. "No Finjas Mas" gave a twist to their goals and objectives, achieving top positions in several web sites, radio stations and TV channels.

In 2013 they decide to launch "Analgesicos", a single that shows the evolution and maturity of the band, which is reflected in their sound and lyrics, all of this to reach a new audience.

Throughout their career they have shared the stage with bands from all over the world like MxPx, The Ataris, Allison and Rufio; among others.

Nowadays, the band is close to finishing the production of their first studio album titled "Hazlo Posible" which reflects and comes from experience as well as life moments between its 4 members as friends and as brothers, after their 2012 Brazilian Tour and their participation in the music festival South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas.

8KMS decided to create this album to give a message of hope in the deepest dreams of their followers.
