8 Systems

BandRockAlternative

Hard rock with strong melodic overtones. Maintaining a commercial appeal while clinging to an original sound and avoiding the cookie cutter FM bands of today.

Biography

8systems has proven itself an electrifying addition to Texas's hard rock scene, and more and more Austin hard rock aficionados and industry representatives are taking notice. Deftly mixing the progressive with the aggressive, 8systems delivers a powerful, passionate and energetic live show that, coupled with the band's relentless promotion, has been packing clubs and bars in Texas and beyond.

8systems is composed of bassist John Thevenot, guitarist Cameron Hooker, drummer Brent Barnett and frontman Rob Chambers. With influences including The Deftones, Tool, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains and the pop sensibilities of such acts as Incubus and STP, 8systems' music is both artistic and accessible.

Formed in Austin in late 2004, 8systems immediately discovered a powerful sound and a collective voice that would quickly take on a life larger than any of its members. The band members have come to Austin from all parts of the country, each bringing unique backgrounds and approaches to songwriting and having honed their skills and musical vision in numerous bands along the way. After settling on their current lineup, the band began and has continued to pursue an intense rehearsal and writing schedule, with a single-minded focus on developing the sound and style that sets 8systems apart.

The members of 8systems have been interviewed on 93.3 KLBJ, and 8systems' music has been spun on 101X in Austin, and shared the stage with national acts such as Hurt and Hinder. The band is currently touring regionally to support their ever-growing fan base, in anticipation of an LP to be self released and distributed through all major electronic outlets. A national tour is planned to support this album beginning in early 09. 8systems provides their own radio support and commercial spots on radio stations across the Midwest and Southwest as well as handling all the other professional responsibilities of a driven, independent band. With almost forty years of combined experience, 8systems knows how to work a stage and have a damned good time in the process. But enough print - let the music and incendiary live shows speak for themselves.

Parallel

Opening again.
Opening again.
Who will be the one to open fire and wage this war? Throw stones.
Will you be the one to open fire?
No, doubtful

The void in the space where I’m sitting is…
Hey, my rage has just arrived, can you stay?
The void in the space where I’m sitting is…

All I had to feel to know I wouldn’t do the same my turn.
All of this will resonate, deeply found, and their eyes will burn.
Look inside to find yourself, the part you walked away from.
I’m begging you to look inside,
the shell you built around yourself.
Feel the walls of darker ends.
She’ll spit you out and let you in.
Light the dark of reckoning and
let you see an...

Opening again.

Who will be the one to open fire and wage this war? Throw stones.
Will you be the one to open fire?
No, doubtful

The void in the space where I’m sitting is…
Hey, my rage has just arrived, can you stay?
The void in the space where I’m sitting is…
Hey, my rage has just arrived…
The void I’ve come to know…

All I had to say was that I felt just like a distant star.
All I wanted was just to know who you really are.
An infinite amount of time to pass you by on my own.
A delicate balance to achieve in the way we’ve grown,
The way we’ve grown.

An opening.
An opening
An opening
An opening

An opening

Opening Again
Will you be the one to open fire?
Wage this war.

Universal Disease

Written By: 8 Systems

Little, do we notice dreams are dying, left to vague.
Slipping through tight-gripped hands, trading your right for ease.

A universal disease
There’s no time

Feel the cold, the bones that shiver
Set your sights, the star across the river
Dare Life, dare life to feel it.
Stand in line zombie, dreams are fading
Paralyzing cold, I see you saved your life
Saved your life to death

It’s inner burden control
The guilt you save will eat your soul
You’ll find yourself beneath, sifting through your mind, until the fear inside has ripped right through your spine.

Voices around you patronize,
lying this is what you need.
It’s remarkable, cause what the fuck could they know about who you are?
A face so heavenly could bare the power
To bring you to your knees
Wondering how you’ve become so blind

A universal disease
There’s no time

This masquerade’s a waste of time
A game of charades that’s crossed sacred lines
How could a scene so cliché consume everyone?

Feel the cold, the bones that shiver
Set your sights, the star across the river
Dare Life, dare life to feel it
Stand in line zombie, dreams are fading
Paralyzing cold, I see you saved your life
Saved your life for death

It’s inner burden control
The guilt you save will eat your soul
You’ll find yourself beneath, sifting through your mind
Until the fear inside has ripped right through your spine, your spine.

Abyss

The red painted sign
The long corridor of your old mind
A means to divide and separate
And break away
The long standing trials and tribulations
The self that we’ve forsaken
A tendency to not see through
We're Awakening

And we wade. We wade again
Into the useless space which with fire we defend
And we wade. We wade again
Into the useless space which with fire we de-

Cauterize the seeds of dwelling
Protecting all the wide descent
A poet in your room reciting
Entangled prose is not so evident
Cauterize the seeds of dwelling
Investing in your last defense
It seems we're out of puzzle pieces
Victimizing permanence.

So hello, I can take you down no other way
So shallow, I'll pick you up if you should stay here
Inside, you catch yourself repeating rhythms
So goodnight, here's to luck in cheating death.

Wading

Wade again into the useless space
Which with fire we defend without a face.
