Bio
Nine Pound Beaver was born in April of 2007 when ex-Rickets, punk legend was having beers with his best friend and Seattle studio drummer, Lex Ball at their favorite watering hole, the 9 lb Hammer. Both had been playing together as a drum and bass duo for seven years and were getting disillusioned playing behind whiny, egotistical songwriters. Scott had recently picked up the guitar again and revisiting his punk roots when he was singer/songwriter for The Rickets. Lex had been working on some his faster drum chops like when he was playing for the well-known, Seattle band Fields of Mars. Lex asked Scott if he had any songs written, and Scott said, "Yeah, I wrote a song called Beaver Power". Lex put two and two together, looked at the awning outside for 9 lb Hammer and suggested, "what about calling the band 9 lb Beaver?" and thus the legend was born.
The band set out furiously practicing and putting out their demo in the summer of 2007. Their catchy punk tunes instantly garnered a large following and the attention of local labels. After doing several 7" records, the band toured the states impressing crowds with their energetic live show and memorable songs. After finishing another tour in 2010, the band has been working on their latest release, We Are the Warriors due for release in summer of 2011.
