"Toronto hip-hop community to RISE UP!"

Toronto hip-hop community to RISE UP! for GuluWalk in January
On Saturday, January 14, 2006, Toronto’s hip-hop community will come together and RISE UP! at The Drake Hotel in support of GuluWalk, a campaign created to bring attention to and generate support for the children of northern Uganda, who are the innocent victims of a civil war that has been terrorizing the nation for over 19 years. RISE UP! will include a ticketed showcase event in The Underground at the The Drake Hotel, with The Lounge featuring some of the city’s hottest DJs. Headlining the event will be three-time Juno nominees BrassMunk, local standouts Mathematik, Shylow, 9th Uno and Citizen Kane, as well as New York City natives Red Clay and Okai.

"Live Reviews"

Shylow and 9th Uno lightened things up, and people gravitated toward the stage thanks to their strategy of including the crowd. While Saukrates 's long dreads moved through the audience, over yet more incredible golden-age beats, they traded knockout punchlines like "You remind me of undigested food – you ain't shit."

Bio

Original member of legendary underground crew The Bombshelta Association 9th has been battling, composing, performing and doing his thing recreationally since the early 90s. Growing up in a time where lyrical marksmanship, creativity, skill, and heart were more celebrated attributes within hip hop, has helped shape him into an artist to be placed amongst hip hops celebrated. Although until recently never considering music as a possible career move, 9th has been studying, molding, and sharpening his craft perhaps unknowingly preparing for his destiny; to rock mics. 9th can be found moving the crowd from Toronto to NY at a variety of different events. More recently he shared the stage with Toronto hip hop moguls, Saukrates, Brassmunk, Mathematik, and his associate Shylow, among many others for the critically acclaimed Rize-Up gulu-walk benefit concert. In light of this event, NOW magazine wrote a review describing the energy and great performance that 9th and his crew displayed for fans and media alike. 9thUno has recently graduated from the audio production and engineering program at The Harris Institute for the arts where he has learned not just about producing and engineering music, but also a great deal about the ins and outs of music industry business. He now feels more prepared then ever to take the entertainment world by storm. Ladies love him, the streets respect him, and the most critical of official hip hop heads praise him. Enter 9thUno.
