Lisa Sanders & Brown Sugar are an electrifying, bodacious, singing and harmonizing duo with genuine heartfelt songs. Well crafted and sung with true conviction and meaning this country, bluesy duo have been performing their unique style of music for over ten years to enthusiastic fans across America.
Lisa and Karen are long time family friends who met briefly at a high school party and later became great friends and lifetime partners when their kids happened to attend the same class. Neither one of them realized that one day they would be a couple of mom's writing and performing as singers and songwriters across the country.
Lisa Sanders is a two time San Diego, Best Acoustic Artist, A Reader Poll Best Acoustic Artist, Third place Telluride Bluegrass Festival New Folk Winner, The National Women's Association Living Legacy recipient, and the 2014 National Association of Professional Women Legacy Award recipient.
Lisa started singing and writing at an early age with hopes of being a songwriter for the stars. As time went on Lisa was spotted and signed by Cargo Records while singing in a coffee house. Lisa was eventually signed to the label as a singer and songwriter. Shortly thereafter she signed on to MCA for a distribution deal and publishing through Windswept Pacific. Lisa Sanders has eight CD releases to her credits. Five released on her own label, Maya Jade Music.
Karen Hayes aka (Brown Sugar) has been singing since high school. When Lisa noticed that Karen knew all of her songs and had an
amazing sense of harmony, Lisa asked Karen to join her band. They have since become a duo powerhouse with harmonizing skills
that have garnered the duo much accolades and opening spots with artists such as Bonnie Raitt, Lucinda Williams, BB King, Al Green
and many more.
Lisa Sanders and Brown Sugar are touring in support of their 8th CD release "Shiver" nominated for San Diego Music Awards Best
Pop Album. The album was produced and recorded by Jeff Berkley of Berkley Hart.
