"Party With The Pack: A Shadow of Jaguar"

Pearl Street Pub and Cellar has music most Mondays and Wednesdays, and they keep it pretty calm on Mondays. But recently, things were a little different. Here’s the scene:

You walk up to the Pub and you’re instantly hit with a thumping kick drum and a whip-cracking snare. That’s when you first realize, this isn’t going to be your normal Monday at the Pub. You expected acoustic, sad-bastard music to be playing so you could sit in the corner and drink your whiskey alone.

Instead, just inside the door, you are greeted with a bluesy slide guitar. And a two piece rocking band. At the helm is Brian Hubbert (of Cold River City) and on the skins is Andrew Oakley (formerly of West Water Outlaws). It’s a super-powered project. It’s A Shadow of Jaguar.

ASOJ plays you a bunch of originals, and some fun covers like Death's “Keep on Knockin’”. To make it even more of a party, at one point Will Buck (formerly of West Water Outlaws) hops in with some tasty licks screaming over Brian's slide guitar parts, and John Demitro (of Branded Bandits) jumps off his normal guitar playing to keep the rhythm section tight on bass. The four play together like they’ve been doing this for years; they never skip a beat. Neither you nor the Pub were ready for this high-energy set, but you and everyone there want more. And that’s your Monday night.

A Shadow of Jaguar just finished recording with Robbie Stiefel over at The Crucible and the boys are playing UMS in Denver at the end of the month. See them when you can, because jaguars don't travel in packs very often. - Bolder Beat

"A&R Spotlight Volume 6"

Taking it back to the time of classic rock, with obvious influence from country blues and soul - "Mama Needs The Bottle" is the musical rendition on the obvious appearance and effects of addiction. Each guitar strum is like a shot of stout on the rocks, strong with a sharp chill along with every whisk. Boulder, Colorado is coming through on the map as members Brian Hubbert and Andrew Oakley have come together as one of the city's most prominent bands. The duo is currently on a nationwide tour, so check them out if they come through to your city. - Goodmusicallday

Bio

A Shadow of Jaguar is a rock and roll duo from Boulder, Colorado. Formed in early 2015, the two share a common foundation of rock, blues, and soul. The band immediately hit the ground running. Within weeks the pair had begun writing and recording original material while rocking audiences at shows throughout the country. ASOJ's first single, Mama Needs the Bottle, was recorded in the Spring of 2015 and set for an early fall release. Along with the single, a music video was filmed during the band’s debut in New York City, with an anticipated release late in 2015.

The duo is fronted by Brian Hubbert, known as the soulful lead singer of one of Colorado’s most exciting and prominent acts, Cold River City. In A Shadow of Jaguar, Hubbert’s homemade slide guitar fills their sound with a monstrous tone. His playing is dripping with blues and exploding in flurries of energy. Drummer Andrew Oakley provides the backbone for the duo. After making a name for himself in the successful Boulder rock outfit, West Water Outlaws, Oakley went searching for a new musical identity. This was quickly found in the form of the stripped down, raw, energetic sound of ASOJ. His high energy drumming gives the band a heavy rock edge and a deep groove. Together, the chemistry between Hubbert and Oakley is undeniable. Their sets are a combination of original songs and improvisation, making every show unique. A Shadow of Jaguar is gaining a reputation as an energetic live band, leaving it all on the stage night after night.
