"WHO GOT NEXT?"

VALLEJO RAPPER A2THAK HAS GOT GAME.
San Francisco--The Next Convention presented a multitude of new entertainers trying to make it in the industry on Friday, but none stood out more than high energy performer, A-2-THA-K.
The convention had its usual good, bad and a little bit of ugly, but not much was more exciting than the fans that rushed towards the stage when A-2-THA-K performed his hit singles Hokie-Pokie, and Hey Girl off of his new CD Runnin’ Outta Time.
Produced by Troy Sanders, Droop E (son of E-40) and Extra Large on various tracks, A-2-THA-K is a new artist under Shot Records, owned by D Shot, E-40’s younger brother.
At the Next Convention, A-2-THA-K made his clever lyrics work with the audience in a teasing fashion.
With Hokie-Pokie, what he call an adult version of the famous children’s nursery rhyme, the beats brought people from all ages to their feet and kept them rocking, dancing, clapping and finger snapping the entire time.
“His words has an adult edge to it, but it’s real and it makes you laugh while you’re dancing. It’s fun,” said Tamara Smith, who was at the convention with her mom.
“He’s different, but good. I think he’s cute too,” she said.
Suddenly, the music changed A-2-THA-K wiped off the sweat from his forehead and a smooth old school beat came through the speakers.
“Hey Girl,” were the first words of A-2-THA-K, and the girls went wild.
As he rapped the song girls were fighting for position at the front of the stage where he performed.
After a quick tease with the women, A-2-THA-K went straight into another song called Hennessy.
Intoxicated by the lyrics, brothas trying to grab their girlfriends from around the stage, realized how talented the new comer is.
“I’ve been here all day and I’m tire, but this brotha got skills,” said 9-11, another rapper who performed earlier that day.
“I had to come up here and get my girl, she all in to it. I heard he was with E-40 and his brothers label.
“I’ll give him his props,” he said.
Another young artist Lay Low of Shot Records also performed songs off his new CD Deep Waters.
Hit singles What The What? And Stick Shift was also an audience favorite.
With D Shot and his record company on the rise, so are these new artists who are nestled under the wings of some of the best in the business.
