The singer and songwriter Kelly Leprohon from New York is fond of Aarhus. So wild that she named her band after the city.

AARHUS / NEW YORK: In recent years, foreign media such as Vogue, The Independent and the New York Times have mentioned Aarhus in such roaring terms that a reddess is probably broken out in many places in our small European capital of culture.

Before all this virak, the city's qualities long ago crept under the skin of an electropop duo from New York.

By the name of Aarhus.

The duo consists partly of the 23-year-old singer and composer Kelly Leprohon, who has a family in Studstrup outside Aarhus, and partly by her partner, 27-year-old Weiyu, who is a composer and producer.

The two met in 2014 at Fordham University in New York City, where they quickly found out about their musical expression.

So far, they have released the ep "Reality", consisting of five melodious cuts.

Beach and beautiful fields
The choice of the name Aarhus was just too - and yet not entirely.

Kelly Leprohon says:

- After visiting Aarhus sometimes, my friends were well aware that I kept more and more of the city. However, they made fun with the name, so it sounded more like "our house".

"When Weiyu and I started working together, finding a name, Aarhus appeared. Both because Weiyu has been dealing with the genre house music, but especially because, Aarhus begins with two aces and therefore automatically will appear as one of the first in alphabetical lists when people search for bands, explains Kelly Leprohon.

What is Aarhus doing like you think is so cool?

- That the city, despite its small size - at least in relation to New York - has so much to offer. My family in Denmark lives only about 20 minutes from Aarhus itself, close to the beach and beautiful fields. They have both fruits and vegetables in the backyard, which they use in cooking.

"In addition, I think Aarhus has a strong stage for art and music. Aros is one of the best museums I've ever been to, says Kelly Leprohon.

The band consists of songwriter/vocalist Kelly Leprohon and dj/producer Weiyu Shen.

Aarhus is an electropop duo from New York City. Their debut EP displays their focus on electronic dance music aesthetics and pop songcraft. Aarhus achieves this by bridging the gap between dance music and singer-songwriter pop.

This is the New York duo’s first trip to Boston, and Together is proud to bring them to the city in partnership with local promoters Lysten Boston.
