"Executive Producer"

"Very impressive young man, glad to have gotten to know and work with him" - David Katz, Executive Producer of "Who's Driving Doug?"(Universal) - David Katz

"Bula Beats Records"

"Bulabeats engage the nitro switch with emerging Portland spitter Mazarati. Big strings and swaggering beats underpin the original while Bulabossman Johnnypluse spaces out the poetics and to make space for a full-charge rhythm that's with gritty big beat era breakbeats. Complete with a swashbuckling instrumental, don't believe the title... You really do need "I Don't Need You"." - JunoDownload

"Mazarati- LA LA LAnd"

Tell us about where you are from and how you got to this position today.
Westcoast raised, Eastcoast influenced. Getting to this position I’m currently in was not easy by any means. Shit. I’ve been writing for years, but it didn’t occur to me until I was 19 that all my poems, I’d been so religiously about, could take on song form. At that point, all I could do was write songs and restructure some of my old shit. When I felt good and ready as an artist, I got my ass down here to LA. Banged out shows, got that music in the streets, & constantly in and out the studio. Then my engineer, hooked up some connects and got me into Paramount. There I was able to get that crisp sound everyone wants to feel come out them speakers. And its been over-grind ever since.

What are you currently working on and what can we expect to see?
Right now I’m writing my 2nd and 3rd Gear mixtapes as well my album for when a get swooped up. At the same time, I’m shopping the hell out and handin’ out my 1st Gear Mixtape and setting up shows all over the LA area for this summer. So keep those eyes and ears out, I’m on.

Tell us about one of the hardest challenges you had to face in the industry?
To be honest, that transition from normal life and now was tough. When we choose this industry, we make endless sacrifices. And when you’re not on yet, you struggle for that paper. Getting that paper can take away focus but those that really want it and got that original talent, we beat that battle. So when it all boils down, the hardest challenge has been the preparation for the industry.

What was one of the biggest set backs in your career and how did you bounce back?
Damn, well my career is just getting off the ground so I haven’t had any set backs, yet. Its inevitable I’ll definitely go through some but till then, I’m gon’ stay on this high horse. I mean shit, this shit ain’t no cake walk and no one should ever think they’re untouchable from this industry’s grind. They’re has to be hard times to actually appreciate the good.

What are some things artists need to be careful of?
Don’t trust anyone but you and your fam. These moochers out there will steal your punch lines, hooks, concepts, style,…it all. Do not drop the soap, these fools will definitely try ta ____ you. Also, always have a lawyer read any thing you sign. Have your people look over everything, it’ll save you from becoming a washed-up-could-have-been. No one wants to be a none to one hit wonder.

What suggestions do you have for other artists like yourself?*What are the best ways to sell your products as an artist?
The streets as the #1. The internet #2. The shows #3. Plain and simple.

These streets out here in LA are flooded with opportunity to sell your product. But its also the best way to sell our products cause your fans and potentials get to feel you out and vice versa. Its just more personable.

The Internet is the artists best tool next to they’re pen and mic. Sooo damn key to utilize this.
The shows are another chance to show the people you. Gotta let them put a face to the talent. It’s also another opportunity to link the fans and potentials to your internet game; its just another step in branding yourself as an artist and get them interested in your service and products.

What is one of your favorite ways to promote yourself and your music?
I’m all about that reverbnation. That’s my main squeeze right now. The internet game is what the music industry is all about these days. That’s our portal for everything so utilizing every and any chance is a must for the modern artist.
