The best kept secret in music

"I am struggling to find an original way to say that this album [Transparent] puts me in a similarly reverent position as the Ron Sexsmith debut. The brilliant opener "When She Appeared" is a terrific song, a tight piece of writing like Rosie Thomas's Two Dollar Shoes or Simon Neild's "We're Mostly Water". Opening with a simple guitar figure and brush drums, the vocals start and you swoon." - Richard Bell
"Canadian indie pop has a new hero." - Mike Usinger
"Booth sings about love, exile and loneliness like a real troubadour." - Alex Bozikovic
"It has to be humbling for this singer-songwriter, to be able to make or break someone's spirits using only his words and a melody." - Neil Haverty
"... a musician and singer of genuine quality. Simply because he conjures a style of mature, crafted music which is the essence of contemporary Americana." - RB
"Transparent sounds more like a high point in a lengthy career that a debut." - Mark Hamilton
"'When She Appeared'... This song by itself would rank a perfect 5." - Wilbur
"Transparent, bursts with thoughtful lyrics, melodies by turns spare and sparkly, simple instrumentation... Booth has made a marvelously intimate record. It's reminiscent, in tone and content, of Tom Wait's Closing Time. It doesn't gave the bigness, the trembling-at-the-edge-of-Vaudeville Closing Time has, but it offers the same space, the same continuity that lets a collection of songs build on each other to tell a story. - Stephanie Domet
