"One Man Banned"

We've seen plenty of one-man bands in our day. Great ones like Phillip Roebuck come to mind. And plenty of not-so-great ones also come to mind. But when it comes to wow factor mixed with groove, few have the skills that Aaron Daniel has. Building intricate jams with beatbox and acoustic guitar backbones - utilizing foot controlled loop pedals - Daniel comes to the stage as only a single dude, but typically leaves seen more as a phenomena. Guitar solos, stomping beats, holy-crap vocals - Daniel has all of it in his bag of tricks. Saturday at Doyle's Public House, Daniel will almost certainly put it all on display. If you have yet to see him do his thing you're missing out. - Weekly Volcano

"International Track of the Month"

Our latest installment of International Track of the Month comes from an artist out of Seattle, WA named Aaron Daniel. Aaron has a very unique style, and it works. He performs armed with an acoustic guitar, beatbox, loop pedal, bullhorn and his vocals. Aaron is very talented, has a unique performance style and sound. This song specifically is fantastic. Vocally I would say he is similiar to Chris Cornell. Please have a listen and share your thoughts below! - raisedonindie.com

"One Man Banned"

Aaron Daniel's new release is a warm welcome to fall. This disc can hit home to any sleepy Seattle listener with it's acoustic spin and blues twists, all the way over to hard core hip hop lovers, and even the indie hipsters can find solace in this record. I know I did. Bottom line: Arron Daniel doesn't FUCK around on this disc. He gets right to the point with the opening track, "Told You So" which is a twisted tale that takes you from the depths of a relationship all the way out to the barren sea with his raw line, "in the sea, just me and my own two hands, earning my keep, makes a man outta me..." which raises goose bumps every time I hear this verse. By the time you hit track 4 on this disc with one of Aaron's classic live songs: "Bored In Between" which hits home to the extremist in us all, you'll realize you're having a great time losing your self in Aaron's master musicianship. His acoustic playing on this song is just sex, lightly layered, with a stripped down grass roots feel to it. You actually feel like you want to be down in New Orleans on a rocking chair stomping your foot along in a chaotic comfort zone that only this man can take you to.

The middle of the CD is amazing putting back to back melodic hit's that slam you right in the junk. Songs, "I see you, Moving On, Under Pressure, & Podium" will drag you right into Aaron's soul as he breaks down reality for ya. His dark tales in low tones tell stories you would hear around a camp fire in a far away land but he doesn't leave you out. He takes you there holding your hand all the way. I love to travel so personally I embrace the bumpy flight into the depths of Aaron Daniel. And he couldn't say it better as he does in track 11, "Destructive" "...you've got me feeling destructive, so locked down, I said Fuck This, where's my stable ground..." I mean who can't relate to that line?
But my favorite part of the Cd has to be the last 3 tracks, "Don't wanna know, In a mess, & Nothing Left" where Aaron brings it full circle finally landing that bumpy plane ride the two of you have been taking right smack down in the middle of his: Jungle. Reminding you it doesn't matter how far you run, you always bring yourself with you. I could listen to the song, "In a mess" on repeat for days and give it's own review twice as long as this so I'll refrain. When you hit the song, "Nothing Left" Aaron has taken you to hell and back with his sweet story telling, witty lyrics, phenomenal beat boxing skills, master mind acoustic guitar playing, vocal harmonies and pedal effects that leave your head spinning and drunk off his talent. This last song is so epic with it's ethnic twirls, and I can't help but be transported to the highest mountain in Asia.... Meditating right along with the monk-style humming that Aaron does so well. He does this while layering and pounding the CD through to completion where you finally get closure with the man who has made you travel the planet with him and all his heart felt, insane journeys, through time and sound.
Hell... Aaron Daniel may just be the Justin Timberlake of indie music... So, if you haven't gotten this disc yet stop fucking around and get your hands on it.

Bio

I have been touring and performing all over the nation with the act I am calling "One Man Banned". Headlining in Seattle at venues such as Tractor Tavern, Neumos, and at the Showbox Market. I played at the U-Village free concerts in the park series with my friend and co-writer Vicci Martinez. I was featured this year as one of the singers in the Seattle Rock Orchestra's tribute to the Beatles at the Moore Theatre. I performed my own arrangements of a couple songs and was invited back for the Led Zeppelin show in November. My next big show is a free show to the public being held at the Moore Theatre. I have been working with STG for a while on this and now I am in full swing. I will be performing all kinds of different stuff using more theatrical elements and showmanship. This is an opportunity for me to show people what type of shows I have envisioned throwing my whole musical career. I have supported such artists as Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Buddy Guy, Steve Miller, Presidents, Vicci Martinez, and many more.

How it Started
I lived in Honduras for three years playing music 5 nights a week in a nightclub down there. I was responsible for rocking out a rotating tourist community of backpackers and party animals. But I could never really keep a band together due to the rotating element, so I started to design methods for entertaining people all by myself. Once I returned to America, I had a hard time searching for band members and people I wanted to perform with, so I kept the solo thing going. I started researching and purchasing equipment to add unique sounds and textures to my presence, using beat boxing and refined vocal techniques to create rhythms and drum sounds through a loop pedal, and layering in guitars and harmonies to create a full band effect.

I released an album in 09 called "One Man Banned" featuring songs written and performed in this live looping format. Some of the songs were written only for the album, but most of it is similar to how I perform live. Everything on the first album was created with only vocals and an acoustic guitar. Sometimes I would scream through a bullhorn to create an old Beastie Boys type of sound. I use a lot of the sounds I used to make when I was a kid playing cops and robbers trying to recreate guns and lasers. That is where most of the weird vocal stuff stemmed from.

I also released 16 singles over this last year I am compiling into an album. This year I am recording three new projects. A new One Man Banned album featuring the looping oriented material, A country album with my side project called The Bloody Knuckles, and an electronic album called Broken Wings, featuring all of my studio engineering and production skills on an electronic spectrum of music people are not used to hearing me write. I have a lot of collaborations on this project including a remix and drum tracking by Pendulum drummer Kevin Sawka. I have been playing in LA a lot and doing song writing for universal artist including Vicci Martinez, Beverly Mcclellan, and Emily Valentine. I was introduced to this crew (all former "VOICE" contestants) all through Vicci who is a close friend of mine.

The Live Show
I have put together a crew of stage technicians and designers that I have become good friends with working in the industry as a professional sound engineer. We have all got together and designed an amazing light show that I bring out with me when I am performing locally. I am always trying to give people a combination of theatrical and rock and roll sights and sounds when they come out for a performance. We have been known to bring in huge risers, moving lights, lasers, confetti, characters dancing in costume, and sometimes I throw out bags full of fun toys and crazy stuff I have picked up around town. I sometimes smash wine glasses into a mic'ed garbage can and build loops out of it. Recently I have incorporated edited sounds from weird movies and audio samples that play in betw
