Bio

Aaron Douglas wrote his first song at the age of 15. The song had no name, or lyrics and was written on a keyboard - an instrument that he’d only just started learning. At the time music was simply a hypnotic gathering of different sounds placed together that made him feel good. This remained the case until his GCSE music teacher him took him to one side and said: “You have a natural flair for music, you should use it.” For a boy that was shy around strangers and had very little self-belief, this was a milestone and one never to be forgotten.

Shortly after this Aaron picked up one of the battered nylon strung guitars at school and with no real knowledge of how to play it wrote a piece of music. This was the spark that fully lit the fire. Within a week he’d bullied his parents to buy him his first guitar and wrote his first song with lyrics and a title no less! From this moment music became a very important constant in Aaron’s life.

Having moved from Portsmouth to Plymouth, Aaron soon became a well known as a multi-instrumentalist in the Plymouth music scene and found himself playing in bands that were sharing stages with Frank Turner, Reef, KT Tunstall, Seth Lakeman, Akil MC (Jurassic 5), BabyHead, Imperial Leisure, Martin Harley, and the Dub Pistols.
In the summer of 2010 Aaron took on bass duties for singer-songwriter/filmmaker Cosmo Jarvis and eventually moved onto guitar. With this came more high profile situations i.e. Secret Garden party, Isle of Wight festival, Parades de coura in Portugal, and the Great Escape amongst others. During this time Aaron continued to write and in October 2011 began playing solo earning supports with Plan B, StringerBessant, Ruarri Joseph, Adam Isaac & Vince Freeman (from BBC’s “The Voice”), Joe Driscoll, The PeteBox, and Reeps One as well as taking this years London Acoustic Guitar show by storm.

Aaron’s approach to song writing is all about honesty. “If you don’t believe in what you’re singing about, whom else is going to?” As such he has songs about impatient people at airports, friends, PMA, and the glorious power of hindsight.

His honest and passionate song writing is coupled with a live performance that blends elements of different genres, story telling, and use of technology to create a sound that is more than just “a guy with a guitar”.
With international hits on his YouTube videos, a debut EP out on iTunes & Spotify, Aaron Douglas is set to make a mesmerising sound of his own.
