"'Guitar Prodigy' to take stage at blues festival"

Friday, Squirrel will take his blues-fusion of "Blusion" to the Stillwater Blues Festival, where he will share the stage with Watermelon Slim.
At 17 he has been called "a local teen guitar sensation" and "a guitar prodigy''. He has opened for recording artist Johnny A.. been a featured performer at the Tulsa Guitar Show and won the Oklahoma City Guitar Center "King of the Blues" guitar competition twice. - Norman Transcript

Bio

Aaron is a highly regarded talent from the State of Oklahoma. He is of partial Native American descent (Loyal Shawnee). Described as a guitar prodigy, he blends his vast array of influences into his own unique sound & style. Blues, Jazz, Fusion & Rock melded together to form Bluesion. A term he uses to describe his original material. Most recently, at the age of 18, he recorded, mixed, and composed all the tracks for his self-released debut C.D.
Aaron had the honor of opening for Grammy winning, guitar great Eric Johnson at Stage Center in OKC (June 07). He has opened for Favored Nations artist Johnny A twice (at the age of 16) 2005 at Bricktown Live & (17)2006 at the Bricktown Ballroom. Played the main stage at the 2006 Stillwater Blues Festival garnering high praise from W.C. Handy & Blues award nominee Bill Homans a.k.a. " Watermelon Slim". By invitation (15 yrs old) joined Oklahoma Blues Festival founder Jimmy “junior” Markham for his closing set at the 2005 festival. Played an extended set (main stage) prior to NAMMY award winner “Cecil Gray and Red Dawn” at the 2005 D.C. & Selby Minner’s “Dusk till Dawn” Blues Festival. Been a featured performer at Toby Keith’s “I love this Bar & Grill”, during Toby’s 1st New Talent Night. Performed at the U.C.O. Jazz lab in Edmond Okla. (a venue that has hosted Winford Marsalis & many other’s). Aaron has received attention from Keeley electronics and Palette Amplifiers. At 13 yrs old was filmed by the Discovery Channel while playing guitar at the Gibson Guitar Factory showroom in Memphis Tenn.. At the age of 15 he won Guitar Center of Okla. City’s “Guitarmaggedon”. In 2006, at the age of 17, he won OKC Guitar Center's "King of the Blues" guitarist competition. Aaron has joined many notable performers on stage: 2005 W.C. Handy award nominee & Blues Award nominee “Watermelon Slim”, Tony Mathews (Ray Charles 1st hand picked guitarist & a 20 yr. member of the Ray Charles Band.), Casanova Brown (son of the “Late” great Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown), Joseph Buchanan (nephew of the "Late" great guitarist Roy Buchanan), and many of the Okla. Blues Hall of Fame members at “one time or another”.
As Bill Conklin (founder / owner of Conklin Guitars) stated, "He's was definitely the most amazing 17 yr. old guitarist to roll through our shop." Aaron is currently an unsigned artist.
