Bio
Abbey Doggett, Tasmania’s answer to Michelle Shocked. Armed with her faithful Cole Clark acoustic, Abbey Doggett has carved out a niche for herself on Tasmania’s local scene.
Since she started gigging Abbey has inspired loyal followings at the Republic, Lark Distillery, Irish Murphys, Telegraph and the Loft. Her country tinged ballads have seen her compared with everyone from Emmylou Harris to Missy Higgins while her harder rocking songs have drawn comparison with Melissa Etheridge and PJ Harvey Abbey has developed a reputation as a songwriter that tackles serious issues in her lyrics, the song Blackened addresses the issue of domestic violence while Tip Toes on the Wrong Road is about our environment and Wrecking Ball a tribute to George Bush.
Abbey Doggett is currently recording her debut EP. In 2009 she is planning shows in Melbourne and tour of the east coast of Australia early in the year. To date Abbey has supported a number of established artists including The Green Mist, Nicky Bomba, and Bridget Pross.
