A green kids music band that rocks? You bet! ABBY AND THE PIPSQUEAKS latest self-titled third CD has won an iParenting Media Award and Creative Child Magazine's Seal of Excellence! Featuring a wide array of genres and instrumentation including pop, rock, funk, country, rockabilly, calypso, it's 45 minutes of fun, danceable tunes that will have the whole family on their feet. Interactive songs spotlighting great 4-part harmonies engage kids and get them moving! As a bonus, the CD is made from ecofriendly packaging with recycled cardboard, veggie inks, and recycled water bottles.
ABBY's music doesn't just rock, it communicates educational and encouraging themes to audiences of all ages. Featuring songs like Be Yourself, an upbeat funky positive message song; I Like Monsters, an electric guitar rockin' action and sing-a-long song about you guessed it!; The Bully, a banjo rock song, empowering kids, and diffusing bullies who might be listening; and Don't Play with Fire, an irresistible whistle-a-long safety song: stop, drop, and roll to this rockabilly ditty.
ABBY AND THE PIPSQUEAKS creator Michele Senitzer has been working with kids since 1989. Michele operates The Clown Company, the #1 San Francisco Bay Area kid's entertainment agency since 1995. In 2000 she conceived of ABBY, bringing together her two loves, music and children, releasing two award winning solo albums Pancakes, Anyone? 2001 and Try Try Again 2002, both winners of Children's Music Web Awards. San Francisco Mayor Newsom honored Ms. Senitzer as a local DIY entrepreneur in 2004. ABBY's music has been included on compilations like Kindergarten Prep and Exercise Party, winner of a NAPPA Gold Award 2007. ABBY was proud to become a UNESCO FEATURED artist in 2007.
ABBY AND THE PIPSQUEAKS the band was formed in 2006 by popular demand. "I was really excited to record this album with the whole band since my other 2 albums were recorded solo as a one woman band." Michele muses. Band members include Spike Connor, a former elementary school principal, playing bass and guitar. Spike performs around the Bay with the Simply Jazz Trio. Donalda Gilligan, backup vocals and percussion in the 'SQUEAKS, is also a singer in the local band Rootbeer and performed with the Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir for 11 years. The multi-talented Mike Blodgett, the PIPSQUEAKS drummer, plays guitar in the band Rootbeer and runs Electric Sparkyland, a recording studio in Oakland, CA.
In concert, this popular, award-winning band is not to be missed, with their high-energy songs and fabulous stage presentation. It's a zany show that includes jazzy joke bits, theremin storytelling, dance-a-thons, and more!! You can smell them coming, traveling in their veggie oil powered car! Your kids will be dancing in the aisles and singing along.
