Abby Rhodes Showcases Soulful Vocals at Mercy Lounge
Nashville, Tennessee, April 19, 2019 - Artist Abby Rhodes continues to leave her unique mark on the city of Nashville with her strong vocals. Abby Rhodes opened for Nashville artist Bren Joy at the Mercy Lounge on April 18th. This was Abby's first time playing the venue, but was the perfect place to showcase her natural talent.
Though she moved to Nashville just a few years ago, Abby had no hesitation getting involved in the music business and paving the way for herself. She has performed around Belmont University, and was a background vocalist in the Best of the Best showcase.
Rhodes has currently been working on new music and is said to be releasing an EP in the summer. The unique transitions between songs in her set really made her stand out on the stage. The smooth R&B/Pop vocals truly showed last Thursday, leaving fans and listeners eager for more.

Abby Rhodes, born Abby Claybaugh, knew from a young age that she belonged on stage. Growing up in Detroit, she spent her childhood memorizing scripts for musicals and participating in vocal competitions, cultivating her talent and passion. Recently, Rhodes moved to Nashville, Tennessee and spent time soul-searching to find her own unique sound in the world of pop and R&B music. “Being on stage is where I thrive. I absolutely love sharing my stories with people and connecting on a greater level during any performance,” Rhodes said. While studying commercial voice at Belmont University, Rhodes took time to hone in on her songwriting skills and performing abilities. Diving deeper into the songwriting process, she began writing songs not only about love, but also those that empower young girls and women to show them their self-worth. Rhodes is currently recording demos and gathering songs to form an EP, to be released in the Fall of 2019 on all platforms. Until then, Rhodes is continuing to perform solo shows at venues such as the Back Corner, as well as singing background vocals for other artists. Her lively shows around Nashville showcase not only her talent, but also her vibrant personality and ability to interact with audiences. Though Rhodes initially started her musical career as a country artist inspired by LeAnn Rimes, her development as an artist has led her in a different direction. Inspired by artists such as Whitney Houston, Christina Aguilera, and Ariana Grande, pop and R&B music has had a strong influence on Rhodes’ songwriting. Rhodes has a lot of exciting and fresh ideas in the works. With her soulful voice and raw lyrics, she draws people in and uses her music to inspire. Rhodes creates an experience for her audience, and her performances and musical influence are not easily forgotten. Above all else, Rhodes strives to use her talents and authentic stories to captivate her audience and create a lasting impact in the world. “I have a lot of career goals set for this year,” says Rhodes. “Continuing to focus on my craft and develop who I am as an artist will always teach me new things. I hope you guys enjoy the new music you hear off of my debut EP and decide to be a part of my musical journey.”
