"Benny Diction & Able8 - Press Reviews! (Latest)"

“Over Here shows off an emcee with
integrity and sick flow and a producer
with more than enough swagger to
match.” (Ally McCrae, Radio 1)

“It is a collection of forward-thinkingarty-
raps that is more “conscious” than
those with their pseudo-revolutions.
Benny effortlessly blends aesthetics with
content.” (www.britishhiphop.co.uk)

“In his own words, Benny is a “purist
on a progressive tip” – he’s within the
“purist” framework of the nostalgic-forthe-“
Golden Age”, 90s-esque, boom-bap
that characterises a lot of UK rap, but he
has progressive instincts that allow him
to experiment.” (The Ruby Kid)

“Able8 had a musical resume that my
poor concentration span couldn’t even
read to the end of, but I got the gist I
reckon… RENAISSANCE MAN.” (Steph
Hughes, triple J, Australia)

“My night kicked off with Melbourne based
Able8, whose set hinted at the
musical wonderland ahead. By the end
of his set the crowd was primed.”
(Greta Kite-Gilmour, BMA Magazine,
Australia) - Various

"Axolotl track review 'Debris' Prod by Able8"

4/5 Stars

I'm a huge fan of what you guys are doing. First Garden Lane and now this. Debris stands out above its 'B-side' status with really interesting electronics and that seriously deep production. Where to next because I'm following you wherever that may be.

"Uncomfortable Beats - Trinity Compilation Album Review"

Released toward the end of May, Trinity is the third Uncomfortable Beats compilation album, created under the helm of Melbourne producer, Able8. Eight of our city’s underground producers are featured, which is no small feat given Melbourne’s relatively small pool of options. The mix of genres appeals to a wide audience, with three songs merging perfectly with our taste here at THE RIPE.

“Street Talk” by Able8 has massive appeal for Flying Lotus fans. The thick synth and fresh nu beat bassline highlight the track’s LA hip hop edge. - www.theripe.tv

"Able8 Live Review (Machinedrum & Jacques Greene)"

y night kicked off with Melbourne-based ABLE8, whose set hinted at the musical wonderland ahead. An extensive array was seamlessly interwoven, from alternative hip hop and smooth soul to self-labelled ‘Nintendo/Sega-hop’. (For all you ‘80s kids, imagine playing Mickey’s Castle of Illusion on the Megadrive while listening to Samiyam.) By the end of his set the crowd was primed. - www.bmamag.com

"Free The Beats Vol. 5 [Free The Beats]"

"Able’s We Have No Time ventures out into dubstep-kissed soul as booming sub-bass drops roll beneath liquid-sounding synth stabs and noodling jazz-centred keys." - www.bmamag.com

"Uncomfortable Beats #2 Review (Compilation)"

Able8 – Home Computer Manual -*BEST TRACK*

This start of this track could easily be mistaken for a super Mario game however the track finishes a full-bodied masterpiece. The nice vocal sample works well in a track that has so many layers. Tight production means this track doesn't have an overcrowded feel and is definitely the pick of the bunch! - www.urbangoods.co.uk

a decade of writing lyrics, performing,
organising and hosting events behind him.
After moving to Liverpool in 2001, he started to
rip open mics and became involved in longrunning
hip hop night Sunday Service. His
collective The Punning Clan was formed in
2005, with close involvement from IDA UK/DMC
battle champ DJ Rasp.

Both solo and with crew, Benny has torn down
stages at festivals and club nights across the
UK and beyond, including Chibuku (Liverpool),
Holdin’ Court (Reading), Hoofer Doofer Festival
(North Wales), Passauer Kunstnacht Festival
(Bavaria) and Lyricist Lounge (Melbourne).
Currently residing in East London, Benny also
promotes and co-hosts monthly night Fat Gold
Chain.

ABLE8 Bio:

Able8 is a prominent music producer and
beatmaker based in Melbourne, Australia.
He has been writing and performing songs in
various forms over the past 9 years. During
this time, Able8 has gone from strength to
strength, whether it’s fronting live bands as
an MC himself, pushing electronic gadgets
as a producer or working behind the scenes
organizing and booking events.

His own label ‘Uncomfortable Beats’ sheds light on
Australia’s under-exposed music scene, and
his crew ‘The Operatives’ import the best world
talent onto Australian shores.

Able8 is surely one of the hardest working
creators and innovators in Australian beatmusic
and so his live shows, which have seen
him support artists such as Hudson Mohawke,
Machinedrum, Rustie, Lyrics Born, Bonobo,
Harmonic 313, The Streets, Shlohmo, DJ Krush
and many more, are testament to the fact.
