Through the use of both traditional and modern instruments, Abnoba generates a musical language which is even more innovative, free from stereotypes of time and space and with an experimental richness distinguished by its relevance. Abnoba’s roots in traditional popular music are updated and made tangible, engaging both technically and emotionally and taking the audience on a musical journey made of shrieks and caresses, irony and love of life.
Abnoba’s performance and recording activities have frequently brought the band into contact with musicians from many different areas.
One of the most important collaborations was with the singer Sabrina Pallini, firstly as guest artist on the cds “Vai Facile” and “Abnormal”, and now as an integral member of the band; other notable events are the participation in concerts and recordings with the hurdy-gurdy players Patrick Bouffard, Sebastien Tron and Gregory Jolivet, performing blues with the guitarist Paolo Bonfanti, working with the Voces Nocturnae choir and the traditional penny-whistle of the Four Provinces played by Stefano Valla.
The band’s most recent and prestigious collaboration was with the Sardinian trumpet player Paolo Fresu and the string quartet Alborada, with whom Abnoba had the honour of sharing the stage for a performance at the Toselli Theatre in Spring 2010 during the Cuneo Mountain Festival. The gig was completely sold out and was very well received by the audience.
