Bio

Above the Fold are a female fronted 5-piece rock band from Dublin, Ireland. The band formed in 2006, when Carl and Dave, who had previously played with successful Dublin Rock Band Mixtwitch, decided it was time to try something a little different. Long-time friend Eibhlin and her brother Brian were eager to start a band at the time so the timing worked perfectly.

The bands influences range from Flaming Lips, Queens of the Stone Age Cake, the Weakerthans, Weezer, & Sublime to Tom Waits & Fiona Apple, and this diverse range of influences comes through in the band’s sound. Powered by Eibhlin’s powerful and captivating vocals, and a honed songwriting style that Carl and Dave have fine-tuned over years of writing for various projects, the band’s live show is both energetic and engaging and it is no surprise that in front of a live audience is where Above the Fold are in their element.

Above the Fold released their first EP, the Falling backwards EP in early 2008. This received positive reviews from both mainstream press and underground fanzines alike. It established Above the Fold on a serious footing within the Irish music scene. It was also A-listed by Phantom FM, Dublin City's premier alternative music station and played on numerous commercial radio stations.

A second EP has just been recorded with visionary producer Neal Calderwood and is due for a Nov ’08 release. Work for a full length LP has already begun as well with an eye to completion in early 2009. In the meantime Above the Fold have been supporting the releases with countless live shows in their native Dublin as well as many Nationwide gigs across Ireland.
