"Abra Cadaver has penchant for musical, sensory drama"

Citing fate and booze as the magical elements that brought the band together, Abra Cadaver is a viciously vibrant punk-hardcore band based in Indialantic.

Formed one year ago, Abra Cadaver has a strong penchant for musical drama and sounds like a sped-up Deftones gone sonically satanic. The schizophrenic symphony "Dan Gent's Orphan" is proof positive. Check it out at www.myspace.com/abracadaver.

The band's second song, "My Hell," is equally wrought with reactionary rhythms and bloodletting vocals. Tinged with Southern guitar elements, this is a song you wouldn't bring to just any ol' rodeo. Here, Abra Cadaver intermingles its touch of sensory madness with themes popularized by iconic Southern hard-rockers such as Down.

If you like the wild mixture proffered by bands that can play Ozzfest one summer and the Warped tour the next -- bands like Every Time I Die -- then Abra Cadaver is the right trick for you.

At 8 p.m. Saturday, the band will join I Am Divide, Czech Novalis and Devices for an all-ages show at Pizza Di Rock,118 E. Merritt Island Causeway, Merritt Island. Cost is $5.

This five-man band will release a five-song CD sometime between September and October. Check the group's Web site for details..m. Saturday, the band will join I Am Divide, Czech Novalis and Devices for an all-ages show at Pizza Di Rock,118 E. Merritt Island Causeway, Merritt Island. Cost is $5.

Bio

Abra Cadaver was formed in the summer of '06, brought together by fate and a little bit of booze. Originally started after the departure of former bassist and drummer of This Changes Everything, Tanner Pierce took over drumming duties and began writing more rock/thrash music with guitarists Steve Lafleur and Steven Davidson, while keeping Daniel Davidson as the prestigious front man. This change in genre persuaded these four overly contagious fellows to change their name to Abra Cadaver. Finding refuge in Melbourne, Florida, the men of Abra Cadaver have been making their way out of their homes and into the hearts of one and all, with nasty lyrics, loud music, an energetic presence, and a breath of fresh air for the hip-hop community. Hallelullah holla back, ghetto revival.
