Bio
Abracastabya's genre-straddling music incorporates haunting organ, piano and cello melodies on dreamy guitars and rock beats, mixing waltz rhythms, classical music inspiration and alt-acoustic. The down-tempo, minor chords have left audiences and critics at a loss for a way to describe the music, with descriptions ranging from "experimental indie rock" to "shoegaze" to "creepy carnival music" to "art fag." Often conjuring images of dark horror movies, the band continues to experiment and create what its members hope is a creation of sound, poetry, art and comedy.
Abracastabya's first full-length studio album, "Knees Together Ankles Crossed," was released in February 2008. These BFFs have played with a diverse collection of artists including Rasputina, Black Moth Super Rainbow, Appleseed Cast, Drag the River and Edith Frost.
The band is currently keeping a diary, which will become a New York Times best-seller in the future.
