"All For What - CD Review"

4 1/2 Stars.
Reviewer: Grant Bruen

Solid use of dynamics and expression mixed with an extremely well educated and diverse lyrical content.

'All For What' the title track will grab you right away with it's powerful melodic hook and driving bass line whilst the second track 'Can You Picture (The Road Is Lost)' truly showcases the bands ability to breakdown all genre barriers and explore song-writing in it's purest form.

Overall a top debut release from the Sydney boys, listen out for appearnces from Patriarch (USA) & the voice of The Whitlams' Tim Freedman. Im sure we will here more from 'A Broken Silence' very soon.

Bio

At a time when causeless rebels reign, and we are without a band to truly uphold rock’s anti-establishment heritage, A Broken Silence is the single voice of dissent right up in the face of the issues we are facing today.

You may say A Broken Silence is an alternative rock/nu-metal outfit with a rapper as a front man. But don’t be too hasty to label them. When you listen to ‘All For What’, the bands debut release, you are instantly hit with raw, vivid stories told by the unique voice of front man Torcha, backed by a crescendo of driving guitars, mixed up with great hip hop production. Drawn together from a mix of different, eclectic musical backgrounds and well-established careers, A Broken Silence truly is bringing together the best of the Australian music scene.

Rather than ramming an opinion down your throat, A Broken Silence asks poignant questions and tells exceedingly real stories to bring light to the things that are so very wrong with our world, the listener is not barraged by pseudo revolutionary slogans aimed at an indifferent system. A Broken Silence Fearlessly approach the subjects that relate to social and political issues, loudly expressed with propulsive rhythms, radio-palatable hooks and real production values.
A Broken Silence will release their debut EP “ALL FOR WHAT” in early 2008. Expect an edgy, socially aware record featuring guest appearances from Patriarch (USA) and The Whitlams’ Tim Freedman. A Broken Silence ask the questions, and address the issues, that their contemporaries are afraid to approach.
